The elevator began to shake, even more, dropping one more time before I felt as if our fate was waiting for us down at the bottom floor. The broken glass made it hard to stand up, but what was even worse was that I was the only one left in the doomed elevator.

"Grab onto my hand!" The officer shouted at me, extending his arm to be the best way he could. I tried to desperately to reach it, but I couldn't. The mix of adrenaline and fear had struck my body to the max.

"Sir, I-I can't." I cried, my heart breaking even more. Just then, the elevator went down another foot, and I felt my back press up against the tarnished wall. All I could hear was the harsh beat of my heart and the yells for help from the people up top.

"(Y/N) please! Try again!" I heard Liz yell from above. The situation had become to surreal to me that I almost became numb to it, with what could happen in a matter of seconds not scaring me as much as it should be.

Before I could register anything else, the sound of glass breaking snapped me back into reality. But surprisingly, it wasn't from the elevator.

It was from one of the windows above. I tried to look up to see what it was, but my heart dropped as the elevator did, my screams becoming an alarm to the people above. I thought it was going to end then and there, but my hand was caught onto something that prevented me from following the fallen elevator.

I looked up to see the hero that I'd only seen on the television. He was a lot shorter than I expected him to be and had a very high pitched voice from what I'd envisioned before. I almost thought I was dreaming and was going to wake up in a matter of seconds.

"I've got you (Y/N), I got you." He said, pulling me up by his web.

My eyes sprung open at the sound of his voice. It was incredibly familiar, almost to the point where it was scary. He sounded just like someone I knew from school. His dorkish moves with entering in from the window and little gestures he made reminded me of just one person.

"Peter?" I questioned in a quiet voice, still trying to process the unthinkable things I experienced today.

"You're safe now," Spider-man spoke, his voice only supporting the theory building up inside my head. I only continued to stare at his mask with making glances at his suit, almost beginning to question my entire life at this point.

"YEAH! SPIDER-MAN!" I heard Ned cheer from behind, causing me to turn my head and divert my attention to him. When I turned my head expecting to see what I guessed to be Peter, he was gone. The team of paramedics came over and helped me up, guiding my friends and I out of the Monument and away from the impaired memory.

That night back in the hotel room, I was kept up from my thoughts. I replayed the account in my head over and over again, trying to make sure all the clues matched up. I even looked back to a video Peter had accidentally sent me while he was building the Lego Death Star with Ned just a week ago, and everything matched up.

Going back home the next day was a tough transition. Everyone seemed to be okay, but I was too caught up in all the possibilities and the secrets Peter could have been hiding. Is the Stark Internship even real? Did he kick ass with the Avengers and that's why he wasn't here for two weeks? He had sat with Ned right across from me on the bus ride home, and I couldn't help but glance at him every now and then. Coming back into Queens, I decided to keep quiet for a few days to find the right moment to confront Peter about this, but I knew I had to clear things up.

It had almost been a week ever since we came back from D.C. The entire team seemed to slip back into the daily routine, and so did I. But, that all changed when I saw Peter at his locker on my way out of school. He was the first one to see me, gesturing for me to come over to his locker.

"Hey (Y/N)!" Peter chimed as happy as always. "I haven't talk to you in a while."

"Yeah." I chuckled, becoming nervous. "It's just been kind of crazy, you know."

"I'm sorry about what happened at the Monument." He said. "I wish I could've done something to help."

"About that," I cut him off, clearing my throat. I really hope I don't chicken out of this.

"I know you're Spider-man," I told him bluntly. Nothing was holding me back.

"W-What?!" Peter stammered.

"Me? Spider-Man? Pfft, you're crazy (Y/N)." He nervously blew off, furrowing his eyebrows and smiling to make the situation go away as fast as he could make it. I really don't know how he became even worse at lying, but he somehow did. Dork.

I sighed before continuing. "Peter, when Spider-man came and saved me, he said my name. How the hell would he know my name? I certainly didn't tell him, I had no way of doing so. But, I recognized your voice in a heartbeat."

I don't know what came over me, but I stopped everything and hugged him to pieces. I wrapped my arms around the back of his neck, feeling his arms wrap around my waist and pull me in even closer. I felt so bad for putting him on the spot like that, but I knew I had to say something before something worse happened.

I stepped out of his grip and held his face in my hands, taking a quick look before speaking again. "You're still the same Peter to me. The same guy that spilled spaghetti sauce on me on the day we met, and the same guy that convinced me to join the Academic Decathlon." I chuckled, making him laugh.

"And also the same guy that made me feel like a normal kid in a new school." I finished, looking into his eyes and softly rubbing his cheek with my thumb. I finally saw the smile I fell for months ago brush onto his face, with a soft laugh coming out of him and he looked back at me.

"I won't tell anyone," I spoke up once more, still afraid that I made the situation worse rather than better. "I'll keep my mouth shut."

"Promise me one thing," said Peter. "Trust me."

I took a deep breath and nodded my head. "But I can't help but be scared that you're going to get hurt, Peter." I emphasized. "I can't handle the thought of losing you."

"Baby, I feel the same way." He cooed. My heart jumped at the word, this being his first time calling me that. "I don't want you to get hurt because of me."

Peter then leaned me and placed a kiss on my lips. I had the feeling of hope stir inside of me after a long while, and I felt as if getting this off my chest was more of a benefit rather than a curse. I simply nodded my head, unable to speak at the level of emotion running through my body at that moment. I felt Peter intertwine his fingers with mine as he closed his locker and lead me down the hallway. I smiled shyly as he pulled me close, becoming an absolute dork again once I kissed his cheek and looked away.

"Question," I said while we were walking home. "Shoot."

"What's cooler? Being able to shoot webs, or knowing that you're every kid's role model in the whole state?" I asked him.

Peter laughed and nudged me before answering. "Is this what our relationship is going to be like now?"

"Um, yes? You're frickin' Spider-man!" I said. Peter quickly shushed me as he looked around to see if anyone was nearby, which thankfully there wasn't.

"You're frickin' Spider-man!" I whispered into his ear, making him laugh even more. Peter couldn't help but think about how us dorks would end up together like this.
