(A/N: Quick Note, the first part may be a tiny bit gruesome, so read with caution if your squeamish.)
You woke up immediately, staring at the cold darkness in front of you. This wasn't your room. What was it? Your curiousness got the best of you however, so you got up and began walking towards nothingness. Then a flash of a light hit your eyes, causing you to cover them. Once you opened them again, you saw something. A purple light.
You followed it. You kept going and going until you reached it. Nothing was there. You looked all around, trying to see where the light came from, but before you could, you felt something jab through your stomach. You gasped for breath. You couldn't. Before it all ended, you looked down to see some sharp alien equipment through your stomach.
Your eyes shot open and you found yourself in a cold sweat as you came to terms that you were just in your room and you weren't dead. Your heart pounded, and your mind raced. "Thank god." You said to yourself getting up and going to the bathroom. You turned on the light, to find even darker bags under your eyes, and your eyes were bloodshot red. Just great.
You splashed some water in your face, hoping it would help, but it didn't really. You were still in shock. As you looked at yourself in the mirror, you clutched your stomach. "It was just a dream." You kept repeating to yourself going to the living room to see what was on TV. Although the sight of your mother on the couch threw you back a bit. She was watching an old alien movie that you had on DVD. This peeved you off, and you ejected the DVD out of this player and threw it on the ground stomping on it. "Woah woah woah!" Your Mother grabbed your arm.
"Why would you do such a thing?" You stopped stomping and turned your head away feeling shame wash over you immediately. "I-....had a nightmare." You turned to face you mother, and her face was laced with concern and sorrow for you. "Oh Honey, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that was going on." She engulfed you in a hug, and you hugged back. "Hey, it's only 5 in the morning, do you want to go somewhere with me?" You nodded, and she grabbed her coat and keys. "Alright. Let's go."
You got in the front seat of the car, and she drove you to the diner she worked at. "Might as well give you something nice to eat along with good company." She said smiling warmly. You got out of the car to find the lights in the diner on, and only a few employees you were familiar with. As you walked in, your Mother hung her coat on the coatrack and then held your hand taking you inside.
"Oh look! It's (Mom's name) kid!" One of the waitresses said happily coming over and hugging you. "Hi Barbara." You said smiling hugging back. "What? (Mom's Name) you didn't tell me you were bringing Y/N here!" Chef Antonio exclaimed peeking out from the kitchen space. "Well they had a nightmare, so I thought I would bring them here for help." Your mother said proudly patting your head. Antonio shook his head. "Nightmares are no good, and I got just the thing for that." He declared walking into the kitchen starting up the stove. Antonio was a pleasantly plump chef from New York City. He was a very generous man and you thought of him as a role model in a lot of ways. You sat up on the counter and began to open up your little doodle book and draw.
After awhile, Antonio came back with a beautiful stack of golden brown pancakes with milk. "Here you go. Now, if you wouldn't mind talking about the nightmare, I would be happy to help." You looked down from your meal. "It was nothing. I just...you wouldn't believe me if I told you what was going on. My mom says she does but in reality, I don't know." You said sadly putting in another bit of the pancake in your mouth.
"Eh, I won't judge, I promise." You sighed. "I think I have an alien in my class. He's done some pretty awful thing to my classmates and.." You paused thinking to holding Dib in your arms as he was momentarily dead. "Nevermind. It's been driving me insane taking care of my friend that's all." Antonio nodded. "You sound like your trying so hard to help your friend and you forget who you really need to help first. Which is yourself." He said patting you back. "Have a day to treat yourself. Ya know? You need it." You took in his advice. Yeah, you should treat yourself.
Eventually, you finished your breakfast and grabbed your stuff to go. "Thank you for everything guys!" You called out waving goodbye before you left to go to your mother's car. "Alright, ready for another day at school?" Your Mother asked trying to stay positive. "Yeah." You replied, attempting to smile back.
As soon as you got there, you realized the bell had already rung. And you were a little late. "Don't worry, I'll take care of your attendance in the office. Go hurry up kiddo!" You smiled and ran inside. You then rushed into the classroom with your stuff to hear something over the loud speaker. "Greetings children of Earth! This is your new skool announcer! A special surprise mandatory field trip is happening for the following lucky children." You recognized that anywhere.
Oh boy.
"Pleeeease let this be a normal field trip." You said begging at this point.
"With the Dib?! No way!"
"OOOOOOOHHH."
(WARNING: LOUD)
(And I'm so sorry.)
Later as you were about to board the bus you realized something. All of this was ridiculous and insane. But you couldn't do anything about it so you boarded, hoping for the best.
(A/N: Sorry if this sucks! Love ya guys.)

FanfictionJust another reader insert thing i'm embarrassing myself with. I do not own Invader Zim. All characters and canon scripted lines go to Jhonen Vasquez and the writers. I'm merely a huge fan writing this fanfiction and spreading my love for this show.
