Some ask to be showered in gifts, Some don't even ask for presents, they only ask for their family to gather around. My only wish for my birthday is that the girls in my dorm would be nice to me. It was the start of the school year and I had already been punched 12 times, locked out of my dorm 4 times and called a baby 2 times, it wasn't a good start. Maybe today would be better, I climbed down off of my bed that I shared with another girl. Making sure not to wake anyone else up, I quickly and quietly pulled on my white dress shirt and my plaid knee high skirt. I always woke up earlier than everyone else to avoid any conflict before class. I looked into my dresser, my wine red blazer was neatly folded, I put it over my dress shirt, in the left corner was my name written in golden thread, I guess when they made my blazer they had run out of silver thread but mine was the only one that was different.
By the time I made it down the hall towards my first class the others had begun to wake up. No one sleeps in on Halloween, with the ball and the special classes today I'm surprised anyone slept last night. My first class was Avalon history, it was my favorite class, I was top of the class because everyone else never did any of the work because they didn't understand why they had to learn this, I understood completely. We had to learn of the bad things that had happened in Avalon so we made sure they didn't repeat. The classroom was the only room in this section of the building. It was the oldest room in the school. The door was decorated with the emblem of the knights. The emblem of the Knights of the Round Table worn round the necks of all the Knights was given to them by King Arthur as part of the ceremony of their being made a knight. The Red Dragon of King Arthur represented their allegiance to the King. The Round Table was illustrative of the Eternity of God, the equality, unity, and comradeship of the Order, and singleness of purpose of all the Knights. The order of the holy grail is made of descendants of those first order members. Lancelot's descendent went missing about three weeks after I was born, no one knows where she went except for the king and the other members of the order of the holy grail. I learned that in the history of Avalon a few weeks ago. When I entered the classroom I immediately felt safe; like there was a secret ghost was sitting there making sure I wasn't harmed. But the feeling was soon pierced by Belladonna, Morticia, and Raven Grady, they were the girl who gave me the most trouble. I had to share a dorm with them, that's where most of the problems. They walked to their seats, their glossy jet fuel black hair fell behind the back of the chairs. They were what boys here at the school called "perfect" or "10 out of 10", but the other girls and I saw what they truly were; jerks. The boys were too blindsided by their beauty to notice that.
Today the teacher was dressed up in her normal costume, a knight in shining armor. Draped in front of her suit was a long emerald green piece of cloth with a golden lion in the center, that was her family crest. She was of the clan of Lyoness. The same clan as sir Tristan lyoness. The cornish knight from the original roundtable, but she had given up on that life to become a teacher here. Due to the fact that she was a member of the order, she was hired right away... not that she had any qualifications to be a teacher. Her first few years were rough, but as her students grew so did she... both as a teacher and as a person. She crossed the room to her desk, the entire room was decorated for Halloween, there was 'spirits' on the ceiling, Halloween wallpaper surrounded the room, pumpkins everywhere you look, miss lyoness was truly getting into the spirit of Halloween. "So today class we will be choosing names for the all hallows eve ball, everyone will be assigned a lord or a lady they will be portraying tonight. It is all random and you will keep your identity a secret until the knighting of the knight of stonewall." she picked up a large gauntlet and smiled "everyone will choose a noble from this sacred gauntlet" she walked to the closest desk to hers, my best friend Victoria Giovannetti would be the first to pick, as Victoria pulled a name, Miss Lyoness looked over her hands"The lady of the lake, wise choice, you will watch over whoever received Lancelot"
a small nod came from the teacher, Victoria responded back with a smile "I would be honoured to protect Lancelot with my life"Victoria said as she stood and bowed then she sat back down giggling, this was the first clue i had of how the rest of my life would play out. The clock in the corner of the room chimed louder and louder as the hour slowly ticks by. The gauntlet soon reached me... i slowly put my hand down inside of it but there was nothing for me to pull out. A raven that had been sitting on the bird perch in the center of the room cawed. Its black wings stretched out and lifted it high into the air and out of the open window.
The school bell rang as i pulled my hand out "m-miss Lyoness, im sorry for bothering you but i had no name from the gauntlet, do you happen to know what i could use as a name tonight?"
"I'm sorry about that Miss Walker, you will receive your name soon, just go enjoy the rest of your day. Happy birthday"
