her trip into work the next day was built on the hope of seeing him, of seeing harry. but she worked through her 7-hour shift with no sighting of the tall, loving man. so instead, she came into work the next day, waiting to see him, she waited, all day and there was nothing. the napkin stayed folded in her apron and she opened it and read his words whenever she had a moment to stop and think. "i'll be back," she wanted to believe his words, whole-heartedly, but there was a nagging in her chest that he was just passing through.

it was tuesday. it had been a week since she had met him. was she crazy for waiting for him to come back? he said he'd be back though, it's only normal for her to wait for him,
"geez, stop having too much fun kid," john laughed as she leant against the cashier staring into nothing, she laughed lightly, "what's up, riley?" he asked, concern lacing his words,
"i've done something bad," she confessed, he took a step back from her and raised his eyebrows,
"what did you do, kid?"
"i," she breathed, "okay," she ran her hands through her hair, "i have done something bad, i've lost your trust, i'm a terrible person,"
"riley," he breathed, "just tell me what you've done, we'll work through it,"
"i-imadeamilkshake," she spat out, "i broke one of your only rules for me, i understand if you want to fire me," john let out a few loud laughs, "what- why are you laughing?" he wrapped his large arm around riley as she almost began to cry,
"you are my most trusted employee," he spoke, "i was thinking about letting you take over my milkshake portion of things," she opened her mouth widley,
"really?" she was grinning from ear to ear, he nodded and she quicky wrapped her arms around his large stomach, "thank you, thank you so much, i will not take this opportunity for granted,i know how much it means to you," riley was going to continue but john stepped away from her, she looked up at him. his lips were pulled up into a thin smile as he tooked just over her head, "what? what are you looking at?" he ignored her questions and nodded his head once, as if to gesture her towards his line of vision, she spun on her heel and turned towards the door,
"harry."
