If Only ⇢ Kai x Ein

⇢ Chapter 8

I knew I'd be in here for a while.

Kai's P.O.V

I remained standing on the other side of the bathroom door until I heard the shower turn on.

I smiled warmly and turned to go back into the kitchen, remembering I had to make lunch.

I decided just to cook everyone fish, since it's quite easy.

"Are his wounds okay?" I heard Jax ask me once I entered the kitchen area.

"I haven't seen them yet, but he's in the shower right now." I smiled and walked over to the fire oven.

Jax just nodded in return and took a seat next to Ryder at the kitchen table.

"Is there a particular fish type you two want?" I asked and got all the utensils out of the wooden cupboards.

"We don't mind, anything will do" Jax stated and played with a thread of string on his sweater.

"Anything but salmon! That thing is nasty" Ryder added and stuck his tongue out, pulling a disgusted face.

"I still don't get how you don't like salmons! They're delicious!" Jax laughed

"There's obviously something wrong with your tastebuds then" Ryder sassed

"My tastebuds are just fine! You don't like anything because you're fussy!" Jax teased, earning a rant from Ryder

I smiled at the arguing couple, and began cooking, quietly humming over their  yelling.

Trust me, I'm used to this sort of thing by now.

They argue over hilarious things, and then eagerly apologise to one another afterwards.

I'm not complaining though, honestly it's quite entertaining.

They kind of reminded me of my younger siblings, and how they'd always fight. I try to keep those memories forgotten though.

I placed the fish above the fire to slowly cook, and then turned back to the werewolves who were still bickering with one another.

I smiled and rolled my eyes, while proceeding to wait for the fish to cook, until I heard the shower turn off over the yelling.

I looked down the hallway and at the bathroom door. Should I ask him if he's alright? I didn't want to seem clingy, but I really cared about him.

I walked past Jax and Ryder and paced infront of the bathroom door.

I decided to wait instead of disturbing him.

But then, he unexpectedly opened the bathroom door and met eyes with me.

"K-Kai?" He questioned

Oh god, he probably thinks I'm a creep.

"I just wanted to make sure you were alright in there" I half-lied, realising how weird it was for me to be waiting for him to come out.

"I'm okay, it was nice to be able to have a shower" He laughed.

I smiled at him and then remembered his wounds.

"Oh! How are you wounds doing? Have you checked them yet?"

"Yeah I took one bandage off, they seem fine.." He replied and looked at his feet.

"T-Thank you for treating them. You didn't have to go through all that trouble" He spoke softly and looked back at me

I smiled "it was no hassle. If they didn't get treated soon, they could've gotten infected or you might've lost too much blood." I informed

I saw his eyes widen.

"T-Thank you.. Nobody has ever care-" Ein started, but was cut off my Ryder yelling and running up to us.

"KAI YOU IDIOT! THE FISH ARE BURNING!" He screamed and pointed to the fish that I left to cook.

Crap! I forgot all about them!

I gasped and quickly ran over to the burning fish, grabbed them off the oven with a towel, opened the front door, and quickly threw them outside onto the cold snow.

"Phew" I signed in relief as I watched the fire disappear once it hit the snow.

"That was way too close" Jax said, half panicked.

I looked over at him and glared

"If you and Ryder weren't too busy arguing, then maybe you could've noticed them burning earlier! They could've set our whole house on fire!" I yelled

"Hey don't blame us! You should have been watching them!" Ryder argued and crossed his arms.

I rolled my eyes. Yes, he was right, but it's not like I was going to admit that.

"Well I guess I'll just have to cook up a new round of fish, since these ones are burnt." I signed and went to close the front door, but someone put there foot In-between to stop it from shutting.

"Huh?" I said and opened the door further to see a meif'wa girl standing there.

"That's some nice fish you just wasted!" She spoke in a very high-pitched voice.

"Excuse me? Who are you?" I questioned her.

"M-Michi..?" I heard Ein say softly from behind me.

Sorry for no update in SOOOO long! I had no inspiration to keep going, I think I had writers block, but I feel eager to write now!

Oh and sorry for the cliffhanger xDD
