Chapter 3(R.E): Mayhem and Responsibility

I parked David's car besides the road just in front of the house. I hopped off the car and jogged to the front door pushing the bell button. It didn't took long before I was greeted by Lizzy's mom. "Hi! Mrs. Morgan I here to pick my little sister up, Nicky." I said.

"Ahh come in, come in" she gestured me in and said to wait in the living room. She went upstairs, and disappeared. I heard voices upstairs, it certainly belong to Nicky and the other was Lizzy. Rapid footsteps bombarded down with two tiny voice hysterically laughing. "Girls!" Mrs. Morgan's voice did little in calming down the two of them.

"Jonny!!" She ran up to me with a wide smile on her face, I smiled at infectious it was and noticed what's on her face. Stickers. Glitters. Ink. Is that crayons? I kneel down to her level, brushing off some glitters near her eyes. "What have you been doing, huh?" I asked, she giggled only in respond with her hands behind her back. I look over at lizzy who has the same facial decoration.

"Makeup!!" She announced, her hands up holding what I think was all the things that was on her face. "Alright you, let's get you home and get you clean up" I guided her towards the door, with her friend lizzy and her mom tailing us.

"Bye bye lizzy" She waved. "Bye Nicky" Lizzy said back, I waved at her too. She timidly hid behind her mom. I think I scared her. Mrs. Morgan gave her goodbye as well as me and Nicky neared the car.

Nicky look up at me when she recognized the car. "This is davy's car" she said, I hold up a finger against my lips. "I know but don't tell mom or dad, okay?" I said. She didn't said anything and just nodded not meeting me in the eye. I smiled.

"I'll gave you marshmallows, if you promise me not to tell them" I said, that got her attention. Lying might be bad, but food was better, and I know that's what she was thinking. I pick up the pack of marshmallow from the other seat and hold it up above her head. She reached up and jump up to get it several times, but I let her have it after asking her to promise it. She hold it against her chest, almost popping contents out.

"Pinky promise?" I gestured my little finger to her, and lock it with her own. "Pinky promise!" She said loudly, happily. I smiled and pick her up and placed her to the other seat. I put on her seatbelt before starting the car and drove back to our house.

It was 3:05 pm when we got back, and by lucky mom and dad wasn't home yet. Nicky ran across the yard leaving the front door wide open as she got in, I can hear her calling David by the nickname she gave him, and no doubt bolting up the stairs. I put the roof back on the car before locking it with my suit and Nicky's gown in hand and headed inside myself.

I saw David carrying Nicky down the stairs, cooing over her new "Make up" look, praising her on how pretty she was looking, and she was reveling in it. A familiar engine sound roared outside and besides David's car, another one rolled in and parked. It was the family SUV, which only Dad that can drive, its black coat shined under the sun reflecting everything near it like a clear mirror. The engine died out, and both the driver and the passenger got out. Mom and Dad was home.

Nicky wiggled out of David's arms, then giggled when he playfully chased her outside. I placed the outfit on my hand on the sofa in the living room and followed them out. I saw Nicky jumped onto mom's waiting arms. "Hi! How's my little girl? Did you have fun with-Oh..." She trailed off, but kept her smile though pained looking now than the previous happy one.

She lifted Nicky, who was all smiles and giggles, higher getting a better look on her face, "How do I look, mommy?" She asked, pointing at her own face. Mom didn't answer right away, it doesn't take much to upset Nicky but Mom clearly doesn't like what she's seeing. "It looks pretty..." she said. Nicky tilted her head to the side.
