I heard the sound, before feeling the pain. The sound of footsteps behind me, heels clicking on the floor, their breath an inch away from my exposed shoulder. I shivered. And then I heard the whisper, and all the blood had drained from my face.

"You deserved this."

You deserved this. The sound of her voice so full of hatred, the emphasis of each word cutting through me, so deep. And before I had the chance of saving myself I was pushed. Pushed so far down, I forgot how to feel. I felt numb, felt nothing, and before I could comprehend what had occurred it went black.
