It was a warm afternoon in May, wind was blowing slightly but enough for a good breeze. I was on lunch break with my good friend, Leon Andrews. We picked up some food from Arby's and sat in he parking lot while we enjoyed our lunch.
"You know Jake, these Roast Beef burgers are just so damn delicious with cheese in it."
" I can agree with you on that, Arby's has always made some damn good food."
"God last night Jake, me and my girlfriend got into an argument about the rent for our apartment."
"Okay so why did Rachel have a huge fit about that? Like lets be real, she has a job and shes making money, why is she complaining about rent which is only like 300 bucks?"
"She wanted to go out with her friends tommorow to go shopping and whatnot, but we split the rent which is actually 450 bucks. So that cuts her budget a bit and now shes mad at me for it."
"He its alright Leon, just get her some Starbucks and she'll be just fine."
"Hahaha! I wished! Nothing makes her happy man, I dont know what to do to be quite honest."
"Its alright, you'll figure out something, for better or for worse."
"Yeah I guess your right on that."
"Okay Leon I gotta get going, nice having you here man."
"Yeah it was great too, I'll get back to work over at Arby's."
"Alright catcha on the flip side."
Leon exited my truck to get back to work, he didn't want his boss pissed at him, as this was he only job he could get. I worked at a auto mechanic and quite enjoyed it. Good pay and nice boss too, would occasionally buy me lunch for my good work so that was a plus. I was in the downtown section when all of the sudden, some drunk person into the road. I swiveled around him to around to avoid hitting but in doing so, I crashed my truck. It rolled over, the doors breaking, glass shattering. The last thing I saw was the man looking at me, with red eyes and drool coming out of his mouth. Little did I know that he was part of undead as before I could think anything of it, I had blackened out. I had fallen into a coma.

The room was a little cold, with only a beam of sunlight peering through the window. It looked like it had been barricaded with wood and whatnot.
"The hell?" I fell off the bed onto a cold damp floor.
"NURSE HELP!!" I called out but got no answer. The electricity wasn't on also and the flowers that were given to me by, who I'm going to assume was, Leon were dry and brittle. The card he gave me was still there.
"Hey Jake, sorry I couldn't've been there for you, I hope you get better man. Here's $100 so when you wake up we can have a nice dinner and whatnot. Love Leon."
"There's really no use for this money now is there." I opened a drawer to find my clothes inside. They were in good condition so that was a plus. I slipped my clothes on and put on my socks. My shoes were a little beat up, but not to bad, so I put them on around my socks. Before I left the room, I went back to the flowers and I picked up the money that Leon gave me. The hospital was empty, It was a little unsettling, seeing the bullet holes and the blood stains, but where's the bodies? I peeked into the office to find the person behind the desk slumped in his chair. It reeked of a thousand dumps but there might be something there worth checking out. I saw that top of the mans head had been blown off.
"Oh fuck, he must've commited suicide or somethin." I noticed in his hands was a revolver, a Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnum.
"Ooh look at this beast, betcha it has alot of firepower, this is gonna be good to have." I grabbed it out of the mans hand and walked out, not after checking his office for ammunition. Ended up finding a box of bullets and six rounds in the cylinder so I scored big time. I walked to the elevator to see if it would run. It didn't so i was forced to use the stairs. The whole hospital was a mess, just bodies everywhere, soldiers and civilians alike. I walked out of the hospital to see the blinding sun. I covered my eyes as I walked forward trying to find my way through. I stopped for a second to let my eyes adjust. When they did all I saw was a mess. The whole city of Lewiston looked like it had been lit ablaze or somethin. Hopefully Clarkston ain't as bad. I found a car that still worked, so I hopped inside of it. Back in my mechanic days, I learned how to hot-wire cars and get them jump started. So I put those skills to use and got the car to work. It had half a tank so I had plenty of gas, especially considering the fact it was a cadillac. I drove off from the hospital to get my house and see if I couldn't salvage anything. As I was driving across the blue bridge I noticed there were no cars going into Clarkston or into Lewiston for that fact. I stopped when a piece of debris was blocking my way. I stepped out of the car with Magnum in hand. I walked over to the debris when I noticed something horrific. The debris had fallen on a women, about 23 years old. That's when I noticed it was Rachel, Leon's girlfriend. She was alive, but she was growling at me, drool coming out of her mouth. I pointed my revolver at her, crying.
"You were a good person Rachel. I don't know what you are now, but I know you aren't what you used to be. Im sorry it had to come to this". I pulled the trigger as a gunshot ringed out. Her head fell to the ground as I stood there crying. I moved the debris over and threw her body into the river as a sort of burial. I hopped back in my car and droved on towards Clarkston.
