Chapter 4: Xavier

Start from the beginning

"Narissa!" he exclaimed before embracing her. I felt a bit jealous. "I didn't know you were a half-blood."

"Hey, Alex," Narissa said with a big smile. "I only found out today that I'm a half-blood." Alex gazed into Narissa's eyes. I couldn't help but feel the jealousy build up. But why? Did they have some kind of history or something? Obviously, they knew each other.

"So, what's your next class?" he asked Narissa. I spoke up.

"Rock climbing," I said. He looked at me. I expected him to be mad, but instead he smiled more.

"Hi. I'm Alex Briar, son of Hephaestus. Nice to meet you," Alex said, holding out his hand. I shook it, a smile forming on my lips.

"Xavier Johnson, son of Apollo. So, uh, you guys know each other?" Alex and Narissa exchanged glances and began laughing. I felt my cheeks grow red.

"Yeah. We've know each other since we were 2 years old. So we're childhood friends. Had every class together ever since," said Narissa in between laughs. Alex stopped, but was still smiling.

"I have canoe racing next. Too bad we don't have the same schedule. At least we have one class," said Alex. Narissa finally stopped, but was still smiling.

"Aww. Well, at least we have one class together. One class is better than no class," said Narissa. Alex nodded and smiled at Narissa.

"I better go back to shooting arrows so I won't get in trouble," said Alex. "Bye guys. Nice meeting you, Xavier. And nice seeing you again, Rissa." Alex winked at Narissa and jogged away. I watched as Narissa turned bright red, but she kept smiling. Rissa? Hmm, must be his nickname for her, I thought in my head. I looked around and found that everyone else was leaving to go to their next class.

"We better get going to our next class," I told Narissa, making her snap out of her thoughts. She looked and me and blushed. As we headed to our next class, my jealousy began to subside.

---------------------------------------Time Laps-----------------------------------------------

The rest of the day went on pretty well. My favorite class would have to be archery, being a son of Apollo and all, but what bothered me was Alex. Do he and Narissa have some kind of history together? They seem to have had something, judging by the way they were acting. Does he have a thing for her? The jealousy came back. I tried to shake it off. Narissa was going to meet me at the camp fire tonight, so at least I had something to look forward to. I walked to my cabin and opened the door, going to my bunk. I laid down, thinking. Not only was I tired of thinking that Alex and Narissa had a history, but I was sore from all the activities.

"How was your first day?" asked Will, my half brother, patting my shoulder.

"Exhausting," I mumbled into my pillow.

"Well, you better get up soon," said Will.

"And why should I?" I mumbled into my pillow.

"Because Narissa's headed this way." My head shot up and I began straightening my wrinkled shirt. My whole cabin burst in laughter. I glared at Will for the joke, but that only made him laugh harder. I put my face to my pillow again, hoping to drown out the laughing. But I could still hear them crystal clear. Someone entered the cabing, but I didn't bother looking up.
