"arielle! wake up!" mom said, bursting through her door, with breakfast in her hands.
"ugh." arielle rolled over and looked at the clock 7:27 too early.
"wake up! it's your 16th birthday!!" mom said laying her plate of breakfast in front of arielle on the comforter.
"thanks momma!" she said hugging her
"your welcome, mi amor." they laughed
"you know what's weird?" arielle said to her mom
"what?"
"it doesn't even feel like my birthday. especially my 16th." arielle said, disappointed
"maybe it will later when we go dress shopping and even later when you have your sweet 16!"
"thank you, mom. i love you."
"yeah, yeah," mom said jokingly "now eat your eat your food or its gonna get cold!" she smiled and dug in.
4 hours later
"i can't decide." arielle said swiping through hangers at the dress store.
"narrow it down to two, and you can try them on and decide." mom said.
"found them!" she said and ran to the dressing rooms with two hangers in her hands. she came out modeling, the yellow, sweet and short one.
"arielle. you look absolutely beautiful. you look like a true princess." mom's eyes went proud and a teardrop started down her cheek.
"thanks mom." arielle almost didn't go try on the other dress but she wanted to give it a fair chance.
"that one! definitely that one, ari. you look perfect!" mom said, again tearing up, when arielle came modeling out the hot pink, long, flowing strapless dress.
"ill go change." arielle rushed, trying not to cry.
at the counter, the cashier asked if she needed shoes. arielle was going to say no, but her mom said
"yes!"
"mom, i don't need shoes."
"ari, please, please do this for me. i want you to look perfect for your party."
"fine." arielle said, smiling but rolling her eyes.
"follow me." the store keeper said, leading the way to the giant isle of well kept heels, flats and dress shoes.
"see any you like?" the impatient helper asked.
"those!" she said pointing to silver heels. mom paid and they went home to get ready for her sweet 16!!
