When the Pilgrims were moving to the colonies in the 1700's, known today as the United States, a unique and peculiar group of people came with them.

One family could change shape to have the looks and abilities of a powerful wolf: soft fur, enormous paws and claws, and a howl that can be heard for miles. This family was a pack of werewolves; they were the Lunarblood family. Very few knew of their special gift, but to the ones who knew, they were known as the Lunarblood Pack.

Another family came with them to the colonies, a family the Lunarbloods knew well. These people could transform from human to animal in an instant; from a bear to a shark, they could change into any creature or myth known to man. The family were shapeshifters. People knew them as the Nightgale family. These families were incredibly close before moving to the new world, and everyone in one family knew everyone from the other. None of the family members marry but stay simply as close friends.

Once in the colonies, the families moved to a city in a Southern Colony known as Yarmere, Maryland: a city with very large forests, plains, and other geographic features. The people were kind, and occupations were often farmer or butcher. The only strange thing about the town at the time was a certain forest.

This forest was massive. The large trees went on for miles, with small mountains scattered throughout the terrain. Along the way were some small grassy plains. People didn't know what was was inside the forest at this time since most said it was too spooky to even look at, so no one ever went in to explore. The forest didn't even have a name. The two families heard stories of this forest on their voyage to the colony and were intrigued by it.

Soon after arriving, they headed straight to the forest. Walking through the trees, they took note that the place was quite gloomy due to the thick canopy of leaves. Even tiny wisps of fog were visible. The air was moist with early morning dew, and the droplets of water on the patches of grass made their shoes damp. Since the sunlight was scarce below the forest canopy, only little patches of grass grew here and there.

After about five minutes of exploring and walking through the woods, they find a tree with a flat service in the center of the trunk. Beside it was a long row of bushes, about 10 meters long; to the right of the last bush lay another tree. Both families were curious.

The alpha of the Lunarblood family, Rufus Lunarblood, stepped in front of the tree to investigate. he looked young for his age of 34; since all of the adults were either in their late 20s or early 30's, it was easy for them to walk long distances and such things. His long brown hair was pulled back in a braid, as this was the fashion back then. His brown coat was long, going down to his knees. His sapphire blue eyes almost glowed in the darkness. He told his wife, relatives, and friends to stay away from the strange tree. His wife, Susan Lunarblood, was comforting the children of her family. Susan's hair was red and thick, and her gray eyes glowed with curiosity for the new world. Her husband had always told her they would come here, and they had finally arrived. She couldn't wait to adventure more.

Beside her was the wife of the Nightgale leader, Jade Nightgale. Jade was about 5'5 and had hair so blonde it was almost white. Her name came from her jade green eyes, which was a special feature on a shape-shifter: beautiful eyes, no matter what color. Her bright smile made her husband Theophilus (most called him Theo) fall for her repeatedly. Theo had short black hair and honey brown eyes. He was a kind man and was very good at meeting new people. Theo and his eldest son Isham were comforting the younger children. Isham had long blonde hair that went to his shoulders and almost matching eyes from his mother. His eyes were more of an emerald type of green.

Rufus was curious about the flat section of the tree. He wanted to examine the trunk more thoroughly and get a closer look, so he reached out and touched it with the palm of his hand. A couple of seconds went by, and he started to hear gasps come from the people behind him. He turned to his wife to see what the fuss was about, and she pointed to the bushes in utter shock.
