Gerard had barely no one. He had his brother and his mother and that was it. At school, he knew nobody and he was a nobody. He preferred things like this. But that all changed on Thursday.

On Thursday, at the beginning of English class, he felt shifting in the seat next to him. He frowned and unplugged his earphones looking next to him briefly.
A small punk boy was sat next to him in the proper St James uniform. Grey knee-length shorts, a white dress shirt and a black tie. But the sleeves of the white dress shirt were rolled up, revealing tattoos. He was also wearing a hoodie on top.

Gerard had managed to get all that with a brief look and was now questioning this boy in his head

"Hi! I'm Frank" he piped up, making Gerard physically jump, as he was too lost in thought. "Jesus" he had made himself jump even more. "Uh hi" Gerard looked at Frank and gave him a brief smile.

"You're a little jumpy. You okay?" Frank asked, writing his name  on the front of his exercise book before looking back to Gerard.

"Yeah yeah... I was just thinking." Gerard nodded, pursing his lips and looking down at the table. "People don't really talk to me. I'm kind of the class freak" Gerard shrugged with a little sigh.

"Well who am I to judge? I think you're pretty cool" Frank said, fiddling with his pencil. "I'm new, by the way"

"Oh! I completely forgot my name" Gerard suddenly perked up

"You forgot your name?" Frank asked with a little laugh "need a hand, Gerard?" Frank giggled

"Wha- how did you know that?" He asked looking at Frank with confusion then Frank pointed to the front of Gerard's sketchbook where, sure enough, his name was written.

"Oh... I uh...I'm sorry. I just can't like... make sentences before 10am" Gerard rubbed his eyes and Frank let out a loud high pitched laugh. "I get ya" he chuckled.
"Well, maybe I could buy us a coffee after this? Yknow wake you up and maybe get a uh, intelligent sentence from you" Frank laughed earning a laugh from Gerard.

"That sounds like a great idea" Gerard smiled catching brief glances at Frank. He seemed like a really nice guy.

"Hold on. Did I just make a friend?"
Gerard thought to himself, in a little shock. He'd never made any friends before. He doesn't make friends, he doesn't even talk to anyone

"Uh yeah?" Frank answered and Gerard looked at him with a frown. Then he realised. "Oh god did I say that out loud?!" Gerard flushed red, hiding his face in his hands while Frank patted his back with a chuckle.

"Come on, make it through this lesson and I'll get you a coffee. Only 40 minutes to go" Frank comforted him and Gerard let out a fake sob "40 minutes" he pretended to wipe tears from his eyes

"It's not that long!" Frank chuckled and finally the teacher arrived. "Right! Get into pairs but be aware, you will have to re-enact Romeo and Juliet with this person" the teacher announced.

Obviously all the boys paired with the girls and Frank and Gerard were the only two left. "Ha ha!" One of the boys laughed and Gerard simply flushed while Frank gave him the finger.

"Are you boys okay with that?" The teacher asked and both boys nodded. Gerard was nervous, but Frank seemed to me okay with it.

"Here are your scripts! Get to work" the teacher commanded, putting down a pile of scripts. Frank grabbed one for both him and Gerard.

The two practiced the speech all lesson, stopping to laugh when they messed up, or there was the iconic 'Wherefore art thou Romeo' line. Frank was Romeo, clearly and Gerard was Juliet. It seemed fitting.

They both packed up and Frank headed off , which confused Gerard. "Hey, where are you rushing to?' He grunted, completely forgetting Frank's earlier offer of coffee.

Frank stopped and turned around. "Coffee? Duh?" He rolled his eyes and Gerard instantly perked up and dashed over to Frank before the both of them ran to the canteen, laughing on the way.

They both ordered a sweet black coffee and were surprised when they realised they both liked their coffee the same. "Good choice" Frank said with a grin and headed to the door. "Oh uh, do you mind if i go for a cigarette?" Frank asked turning back to looks at Gerard

"Yeah it's no problem! I smoke too" he smiled and they fell into step together heading out into the gloomy skies and rain, just to get their fix.
