The short answer is that my parents are oblivious. They never knew or even cared about the things I did in my life. They probably thought I went to school every morning at 4:30 and that it ended at 5.
Quite the contrary.
It actually starts at 7. I know what you're thinking, what the hell is this girl doing for two and a half hours? Well, I like to walk.
Every morning I get up, get ready, and walk. Yes I have a car, a pretty nice one if I might add. But if I drove then I would've missed the mom and pop bakery on the corner or Smith and 4th. I'd ignore the veteran who lost his family due to money issues (rather the lack of). But most especially, my favorite thing I've discovered. It's a cliff, just half a mile on the way to school. It doesn't overlook much. There's rocks, a little forest, maybe a stream or two. Nothing anyone would call beautiful.
It calls to me. There's something just mesmerizing about how far the drop is. So close yet so far from civilization. A shout away from being discovered. But I don't want anyone to find it. It's mine.
