1 Year Later; Day 1; 6:15 PM

Boom. Another explosion resonated through the mountains and forest. The ground shook beneath my feet. I popped my head over the over the rock that protected me to see if the explosion had made a dent or scratch, or... whatever damage in the stupid force field. Nothing and Ruy Ignis still had that arrogant look on his face sitting in the middle of the abandoned road. I pushed the silver tips of my hair back annoyed. What would it take for this guy to crack? I was running low on explosives. He couldn't keep this up forever, right? I groaned. The pavement around the bubble scarred, black and dented, but Ruy wan't even breaking a sweat. I strolled over to him.

"C'mon Ignis, you're going to have to get out if there at some point to eat or... pee or something." I sat down on one of the little yellow lines that ran down the road, face to face with Ruy and crossed my legs. The boiling black road burned my hands they touched it's surface. I winced. I hadn't realize how hot the pavement could be from burning under the sun all day, but I quickly masked my pain and put my hands on my lap, hoping he hadn't noticed.

Ruy examined me up and down looking for any possible weaknesses. I glared back at him. He scoffed, "You do realize I was trained by the Neverseen, right? I can go days without food or water. Unlike you untrained Black Swan trash." Ugh, the war had obviously not done much damage to the guys enormous ego. I was tempted to point out how the Black Swan had beaten the Neverseen, but I settled for just rolling my eyes.

"Whatever, you're going to prison at one point or another. It's not like I have anything better to do." Yeah, I was in no rush to get back to my mission reports or my meeting with Tiergan.

We sat awkwardly in front of each other in silence. I looked around at the forest surrounding the tar black asphalt that cut through the lush green scenery and rolling untamed mountains. Humans always destroyed everything. I couldn't believe my sister had agreed to go on that stupid initiative for the council. I shook the thoughts out of my mind, I've got to concentrate on the mission. Ruy could put down that shield at any moment and attack, sure he would probably fail considering I had already disarmed him, but I couldn't risk it. I moved my eyes from the mountains back to Ruy Ignis. He sat identically to me, his legs were criss crossed and his hands were in his lap. His lips were pressed together, humming nervously, looking anywhere but at me. It was almost funny seeing a Neverseen agent so self-conscious.

He coughed loudly filling the awkward silence. I almost laughed at his not so discreet social cue that he was bored and/or uncomfortable. Honestly, I probably couldn't care less about his happiness or well being currently, but it was his last moments of 'freedom'-- if you could call staying in trapped in your own force field freedom-- so, I decided to humor him, besides I needed more time to think of a better plan.

"What's your favorite color?" I asked randomly. Whatever, it was a typical question.

"What?" Ruy looked at me  confused. His face priceless. He definitely not used to being asked his favorite color by his 'opponent' or probably just in general being a Neverseen agent and all.

I bit back a sarcastic comment, "You obviously want to talk. I was trying to 'socialize'." I forced out the last word tasted, it bitter in my mouth, but I managed. It was nearly a decade ago, but it felt like yesterday that my parents had tried to explain to me about social norms, social standards and socializing. They probably used the word social and every from of the word a billion times in one week.

Ruy gave my a side ways glance. "Fine," he said as if announcing some secret classified  information, or a girl giving in to telling her crush which was basically the same thing to them, "My favorite color's honey gold... You?"
