GRACE rushed down the stairs and opened the door, surprising the shadowhunters.

"May I help you?"

"Umm, yes. Actually, we kind of need your support." Clary responded.

She wanted to add something, but Grace interrupted her, looking at the redhead in a concerned way. "Can I ask what happened the last days? You look like you're a little...rattled."

Clary sighed and raked her fingers through her hair. "Oh, you know, I found out Valentine is my father, Simon got kidnapped by vampires and we saved him, no biggie."

Grace's raised her eyebrows and looked genuinely surprised. Then she realized something and face-palmed herself. "I apologize for my sister. I am...oh my god." She sighed.

Then she turned back to the shadowhunters. "What am I supposed to do?"

"We will meet up with Magnus Bane tonight, at the rave, to try and get back Clary's memories. We don't know what to expect, and...I mean you know each other, don't you?" Isabelle said, looking at Grace with a hopeful facial expression.

Just as the witch was about to respond, she noticed the jewelry around the shadowhunters neck. Grace knitted her eyebrows. It looked familiar. No, it couldn't be.

Grace's eyes widened. Magnus' necklace?

Isabelle continued,

"It's a Downworlder's rave, it'll be fun!"

That hadn't really been on her to-do list for that evening, but then she glanced at Clary, who gave her a look full of desperation.

The girl needs you. You have to help her, you promised Jocelyn you would protect her when she couldn't.

With a faint sigh she quickly went back to put on some clothes that would be appropriate for a party, and decided to wear a blue dress that ended mid-thigh and complimented her eyes.

Grace didn't have any time to do redo her makeup, although she wasn't wearing much anyway, or style her hair, so she just quickly brushed through her waves and applied a bit of lipstick.

She grabbed her wallet and phone before rushing downstairs.

"Ready to go?"

"Do you think red's my color?"
Isabelle asked, touching the red ruby on Magnus' necklace.

"Iz, with a body like yours, everything's your color." Clary responded, boosting Isabelle's ego.

"Good point. Damn, I make this necklace look so good."

Grace rolled her eyes.

"Will you take it off? I'm certain Magnus doesn't want drool on his ruby when we make the exchange." Alec demanded, clearly annoyed.

"You know, I wouldn't be so sure. Most men like it when I admire their jewels." Isabelle shrugged with a smirk on her face.

Did she just really say that?

Her comment caused Jace to roll his eyes and chuckle. Clary grinned, relieved that Isabelle eased the tension a bit since she was very nervous.

Grace pinched the brick at her nose, but couldn't suppress the quiet laugh that escaped her lips. She certainly liked Isabelle more than any shadowhunter she had ever met.

"Can you just give it to Jace?" Alec urged, glaring at his sister.

Isabelle giggled, handing the jewel over to him before making her way into the club.

Loud techno music was playing when Grace entered the crowded club, watching the people grinding against each other or ordering drinks at the bar. Pretty much every downworlder was there - when she let her gaze wander, she recognized seelies, werewolves and a few vampires. But there were no witches or warlocks within sight. Even when Grace looked closer, there were none.

Grace knitted her eyebrows. Was there something she wasn't informed of?

To be honest, she had never been in contact with many of her kind - she had travelled the world for centuries, never staying in one place for too long which made it hard to maintain friendships.

But if there was something going on, she should know.

And it looked like the person to talk to stood next to a wooden table, applying his make-up.

Determined, Grace pushed through the crowd, trying to get to Magnus but Clary and Jace beat her to it.

"Magnus!" Jace shouted, trying to get the warlock's attention.

He turned around, inspecting the shadowhunters and Grace. Magnus glanced at the latter with a somewhat painful expression, but tore his eyes away from her and strode towards the group.

"Clary Fairchild."

After he looked at her with approval, he added, "You've grown into a beautiful young woman."

"Magnus Bane. So you're the one who stole my memories." Clary accused the warlock coldly, gazing at him snidely and crossing her arms.

Grace cleared her throat, shooting the redhead a disapproving look. She couldn't understand her suddenly harsh demeanor, besides the fact that it was because Jocelyn wanted him to, and she certainly didn't appreciate it.

Magnus put his hands up in defense,
"At your mother's request. She knew the risk. Show me the jewelry, Shadowhunter."

Jace hesitantly pulled out the necklace, showing it to the warlock who instantly reached out to grab it.

"Give Clary back her memories, and you get the jewelry" Jace demanded, yanking it back.

"I have to confirm its authenticity."

Grace sighed, narrowing her eyes.
"Just hand it over, blondie."

After Magnus had received the necklace, he examined it. When he was sure that it was undamaged, he turned it around to look at what was engraved in the back.

"Amor verus numquam moritur."

"True love cannot die." Grace translated.

The simple phrase carried much emotion, and when the shadowhunters saw the intense the two shared, they started to question how good they actually knew each other.

"Oh, how I've missed this jewel."
