Her head rested on my shoulder, her heavy breathing lulling me to to sleep. As my eyelids fell like a setting sun, I felt her shift. "Hey." She wrapped her soft fingers around mine pulling my hand to her lips and giving it a gentle kiss. I smiled a bit in my drowsy state. She shook my shoulder. I couldn't help but groan. 5 hours sleep wasn't enough. It would be merciful to give us more time. "Wake up sleepyhead. We only have a bit of time to get ready." Her voice was silky, yet I could tell she was sugar coating it. She didn't want to get up any more than I did. I felt her haul me up, letting me lean on her shoulder. Though she was gentle, she was also strong. So wonderfully brave and strong. I managed to mumble a rough good morning, my voice soaked with sleep. I kissed her forehead like always. It was just like any normal morning for us. Then, my eyes shot open as the door creaking open reminded me it was not. For there in the doorway stood our Executioner.
