It was a mistake to take AP geometry. And not for the reasons you would think. Oliver did okay when it came to grades, it was the
long periods Mrs.Lang would leave the classroom for lunch that killed him. When that happened, the classroom became a war zone, with people yelling and paper flying all over the place. Add everyone's different "talents" and it was complete chaos.

Kit sat to Oliver's right and Adam to his left. He was basically acting as a buffer for the two. You could almost smell the teenage angst. He already had to deal with this at the dorms but in math too?

Then there was Cecily. She glared at him from across the room. It wasn't enough that they had to be related, they had to share everything too. Geometry class, friends, a dorm room.

It also didn't help that Cecily hated him.

Yep, geometry sucked. And so did school for that matter.

Oliver stared back down at his paper. All the angles and degrees and formulas made his head hurt. Like the universe had read his mind, the loudspeaker made an announcement.

"Oliver Beckmann to the front office please."

Oliver slowly stood up and headed for the door. "Grab a hall pass dingus," Cecily called after him.

The front office was as sad as ever. It smelled like mildew, old bread and sad perfume. It was usually quiet and empty, save for the lady at the front desk who always glared at him. Now that Oliver thought about it, he got glared at by a lot of people. But now, the principal sat next to a boy Oliver had never seen before. He had dark, curly hair and he looked like he hadn't slept. Ever. He also wore a light pink sweater that was about two sizes too big on him. Mr.daydly, The principal stood. The boy was struggling to stay awake.

"This is Elliot. He's our new..." Mr.Daydly stopped, looking for a word. "Our new transfer student." He decided.

"Okay?" Oliver was extremely confused. They didn't get transfer students at Thornview. Thornview was their "containment" as staff put it. Everyone here stayed here. No one went in or out. If this kid was here, he must've been pretty important.

Mr.Daydly cleared his throat. "He's a special case as you've probably already figured. We want you to help him get adjusted to Thornview. He'll be staying in your dorm room seeing as how... empty... it is after the lose last year." They both shifted uncomfortably. "Take him to your room, and while your at it get the rest of your building together. We have a few more new cases... er transfers on their way that will also be staying with you."

They sat in uncomfortable silence. "Cool." Oliver finally said.

"Yes, yes, now go get Elliot settled." He practically shoved the boys out.

"What about his stuff?"

"He doesn't have any." Mr.daydly replied as he closed the door on the boys.

Maybe things weren't going to be so sucky after all.
