Aquarians are hard to  read, one moment they are very emotional and the next they are ice cold and are pushing people away. They tend to run away so they don't have to face their true feelings.
The only time aquarians can be very emotional is when they are alone. One thing they despise is showing emotion in front of everyone else as they feel it's a sign of weakness. They keep their personal emotions hidden behind a mask.
