When driving home,I felt a sense of accomplishment for finally showing Brandon who I really am. Not the same hopeless love struck teen who sadly fell in love with the person she knew she had no chance with. I am different. I'm glad I finally showed him that today.
While humming a random tune, I pulled onto my street and made my way to the all too familiar house on the dead end of the street. Looking at the building I sighed in relief. Man I missed this place. I made my way up the grey cobblestone driveway while I looked at the trimmed yard and hedges as it outlined my way to the house. The house was quite big, and it had a stylish modern look to it.
The mansion had a smoky white paint all the way up to the black rough shingled roof. The poles in the front entrance were smoky colored wood as well. The steps were polished marble. So really, the basic "I wish I had that house!" Type reaction from anyone. I won't deny my parents weren't wealthy because then that would be a lie. They are in the dental and medical professions. What do you expect?
I drove up to the main entrance and clicked open the garage door. Hmm, my mom and dads cars are gone, probably aren't home yet. I parked my baby then made my way via from the garage to the kitchen to drop all my stuff off.. And no, before you ask I do not have a maid or butler or a personal chef. Just me, and my parents since my brother is in college.
Making my way through the very quiet hall I finally reached my destination. Through the oak cabinets, stainless steel utilities, and marble countertops, the marble island had something that caught my eye. I walked over to see what was on the piece of paper on it there was a note scribbled:
'Honey I have to work late tonight because of a couple of dental surgeries came up suddenly so I will be home late. Your father also has to work nights tonight. I am so sorry honey, please feed yourself with anything you can find in the fridge. Again, the both of us are very sorry but work is work. Looking forward to hearing about your first day coming back tomorrow. Love you lots, mom and dad xoxoxo..'
Typical. My parents are really never home thanks to the professions that they decided to do. I've gotten used to bringing me up by myself because they are too busy with work. I don't mind really, I like the quiet especially after days like these. I started rummaging in the oak cupboards for something remotely edible.
You see another problem beside your parents not being home is, well they love eating healthy. Everything in our house is always 'healthy' and 'nutritious', so to speak because that is what their profession promotes. "People need good influences like you in the world because then maybe here wouldn't be so many cavities." My mom would always say. But when you wanted chips like all the other kids, you would get carrot sticks. And no one wants to trade for carrot sticks. And I mean NO ONE. Trust me I have tried. So in the end, there is never anything unhealthy in our house. Unless birthdays of course. But even then, the extras would always get thrown out.
Not finding anything that remotely looked good, like usual, I gave up and made my way up to have a shower hopefully taking my mind off of my growling innards. I walked up the wooden staircase, down the hallway, then straight, then take a left and then your in my room. Take a right, you would find yourself in my brothers old room.
Looking into my room I sighed in comfort. It had soft lavender color with white trim around the big window and on the baseboards. The closet was a walk-in closet right across from my matching purple sheeted bed. Inside the closet there was a oak dresser filled with multiple colors of clothes, along with sweaters hung up then beside it on racks, were shoes on the bottom. Every spoiled girls dream.
Across from my closet was my purple sheeted twin bed. To the left of the bed is a bookshelf filled with assortment of novels, magazines, and picture books. I love to read as you can tell. To the right of my bed was a the best of all. The window overlooked our beautiful backyard which was a forest. In the winter the snow sparkled in the sun and in the summer it sheltered me from the hot sun. If I could do anything, it would be to sit here and watch the animals and the seasons go by, it is my sanctuary.
