If Only ⇢ Kai x Ein

⇢ Chapter 5

I rubbed at my eyes as tears began to form.

I took deep breaths to calm myself down. This was always my routine whenever I had this nightmare.

As I was breathing, I was startled again by the sound of the wooden door being opened.

I looked over and saw Kai standing there with a plate of meat in his hand and a glass of water in the other.

"Hey, I hope I didn't wake you" He said and slowly entered the room, walking closer to me.

"N-No, I-I just woke up.." I said and thanked him as he handed me the plate and glass

"I hope you like cooked rabbit, they are very tasty around here" Kai smiled, but his smile soon faded once he noticed my puffy, red eyes.

"Have you been crying?" Kai asked and leaned closer to me

"U-Uh, no...." I lied. I didn't want to worry him anymore.

"I can tell you're lying, I understand if you don't want to talk about it though" He replied and leaned back

I looked down at the food and drank some of the water.

"I-I... Just had a nightmare... About my parents.. But it's no worry, I'm used to this nightmare. It happens a lot..." I admitted, there was no going back now.

"I'm sorry to hear that... I don't know what happened, but it will get better, I promise" Kai smiled softly before turning to leave the room.

"Thank you, I hope it will..." I said and smiled at him before he left, closing the door again.

Kai reminded me of my auntie. She'd always comfort me whenever I got upset over my parents or had the nightmare. She'd always say it was just there to remind me that they love me and are always here for me. But that was.. Back then...

I smiled to myself and began to eat the cooked rabbit. I've never had rabbit before. I could never find any other animals here apart from werewolves and birds. Where did Kai find these?

Kai's P.O.V

I walked back out of Ein's room after I gave him his dinner.

I was really worried about him. I can just imagine what he's been through.

I signed and walked back to the kitchen table, taking a seat opposite of Jax and Ryder who were building castles with cooked rabbit legs.

"How many times have I told you guys not to play with your food?" I glared at the two who smirked at me playfully.

"Sorry MOM" Ryder laughed, causing Jax to laugh along.

I rolled my eyes before plopping my elbow on the table and leaning my head into my hand.

"Are you okay? You seem more irritated than usual." Ryder stopped laughing once he saw me

I looked at him at the corner of my eye and smiled.

"I'm fine, I'm just worried about Ein. He just told me had has frequent nightmares about his parents.." I signed

"I guess he's traumatised. It was a big event in his life." Jax said and Ryder nodded

"Yeah, but, I want to help fix him. He did help me, if it wasn't for him then I don't know what I'd be doing right now" I said

"Kai, you've already done more than enough for him, you saved him from dying in the forest, don't you think that's enough already?" Ryder mentioned and took a bite from his meal.

"I guess.. But I want to help him get what he wants back, his werewolf identity. It's who he is." I replied and looked back over at them.

"We'll need a genius plan for that to be possible. Ein is a strong guy, he can get through this." Jax exclaimed

"He really has become tough. How did you manage to carry him here?" Ryder laughed

"I'm strong too you know!" I shouted at him

"Why are you so passionate about helping him anyway?" Jax started, causing me to eye him in confusion.

"You were a smart guy, you could be better places in life right now if you didn't change yourself just because you thought Ein's story about humans and his parents was that sad." Jax suddenly let out, causing Ryder to gasp and gently hit his shoulder

After hearing this, I was in a loss for words.

"I-I.. I guess his happiness is more important to me...." I said before standing up and walking into my bedroom, gently closing the door behind me.

"I see this friendship going many places" Ryder grinned

Jax laughed and nodded his head "I ship it" Jax smirked

"My god you weirdo" Ryder laughed "We should go to bed too" Ryder exclaimed and stood up.

"I agree" Jax yawned as they both made their way into their shared bedroom and fell into a peaceful sleep.
