If Only ⇢ Kai x Ein

⇢ Chapter 3

"Ein, aren't you hungry?" Kai asked me and furrowed his eyebrows back at me

"Y-Yeah, I just wanted to see if I could walk first," I laughed and remembered the newspapers I saw. I should ask Kai about those when I get the chance.

Kai nodded and walked over to the bowl of oranges and glass of water.

"You should eat up then, I'm sure Jax and Ryder can keep you company" He laughed and handed me the bowl and glass.

"What? Where are you going then?" I asked him

"I'm going out hunting, we need some new animals for dinner tonight" Kai smiled and started walking out the door.

"Wait!" I called after him and he turned around curiously.

"Something wrong?" He asked, looking at me confused.

"W-Will you be okay out there? What if someone gets you?" I asked worriedly. Great I sound too paranoid, don't I? I was just afraid that Tatiana or someone would see him.

Kai laughed and Jax and Ryder joined.

"He'll be fine, he always hunts for us, thanks to our training" Jax mentioned and pat my shoulder.

"He's right, you've seen how I hide in trees" Kai smiled reassuringly at me before exiting the room until he was no longer in sight.

I felt another hand touch my other shoulder and I looked up to see Ryder

"You care about him, aye?" Ryder grinned at me

I backed away from their grip "Well duh! He saved me.. It's the least I could do.." I admitted and looked down at the bowl of oranges. They reminded me of Kai..

"Chill dude, he's only hunting not too far from here. He always brings back the best rabbits, fish or birds to roast!" Jax smiled and did an imaginary mouth water while rubbing his stomach.

"Don't worry, he cares about you too. When he arrived back here with you in his arms, he didn't even let us touch you. He just locked himself in this room and said he was going to bandage you up." Ryder smiled warmly.

I laughed and took a bite from an orange, hiding the small blush that unintentionally appeared on my face.

"Wanna sit with us in the kitchen? It's way better than this old room." Jax gestured towards the dusty walls.

"Full of memories!" Ryder said and pointed to the newspapers.

"Heh, the media calls us the meif'wolves" Ryder posed

"You might like that name but I think it's ridiculous. I would have rather they called us the 'Lightning barks!'" Jax said and made a dramatically symbol with his hands

"LAME! KAI CANT EVEN BARK!" Ryder laughed and started walking towards the door.

"Come on, Ein, let's leave this idiot and his crappy name choices alone" Ryder joked and motioned for me to follow him outside of the room

"Hey! Wait up!" Jax called for us and glared at Ryder

Once I entered the kitchen behind Ryder, I was astonished with how clean and fresh this place looked. The wooden walls were nicely cut and spotless, nearly all the furniture was made from wood, and a fireplace was on the side of the room. Blankets, rugs and pillows were placed on floors and chairs to make them more comfortable. In the centre of the room there was a kitchen table with 6 chairs surrounding it, to the left was a kitchen, and to the right was a sofa covered in pillows and blankets. While doors and photo frames were on the walls. It looks similar to the lodge, just smaller and more clean.

"Wow.." I let out as I observed the room.

"It's not much, it's all we could build. But it's home." Ryder smiled as Jax appeared from behind me.

"Wait, you guys built this?" I asked astonished.

"Yeah! We all did! We stole resources from the nearby store to cut up wood from trees to create this. It wasn't easy but we are satisfied with the results." They smiled and sat on the sofa.

"This is our cuddle sofa" Ryder smiled and hugged Jax tightly.

"Cuddle sofa?" I mimicked and looked at them confused.

Jax froze "You idiot we weren't supposed to tell him yet!" Jax said to Ryder "Oops..."

Jax signed "Ein, there is something we need to tell you.." He looked down

"W-What is it?" I said getting nervous. Was this bad or good news?

Suddenly Jax grabbed Ryder's hand and interwind them.

"Ein.... Ryder and I.. Are... Dating.." Jax finally said and looked back up at me from his place on the sofa while I remained standing.

My eyes widened

"D-Dating? For how long?" I said, I was shocked, I always thought they were just close friends. I never expected this.

"Just 3 years ago, I confessed to him once we all ran into the forest and thought we were all going to die... Until of course we got the idea of hunting and building better shelter than in caves or under trees." Jax said and smiled at Ryder who was seated next to him.

"We understand if you don't accept us, I know this must be very shocking to you, Kai was even shocked but he accepted us and never looked at us differently." Jax smiled at me

"Of course I accept you guys, you're my bestfriends. I'm just surprised is all" I laughed

"I was surprised when he confessed to me, it was like out of nowhere and I never knew he felt the same.." Ryder spoke up and smiled at Jax

I smiled at them both. They really do make an adorable couple.

"Come sit with us, Ein, eat your oranges, you must be hungry." Jax smiled at patted the seat next to him, motioning for me to sit down.

I walked over and sat beside him before digging into my oranges.
