|Modern AU|

A young, semi-tall female was sprawled across a couch. She was almost a teenager, 12 to be exact. Her blonde hair fell down to her shoulders, as it also seemed to be sprawled across the couch. This girl, was sitting in the house she would soon stay in. She would move out at an early age, for a reason, that would soon come to her. Her dark green eyes seemed bored, as she stared up at the ceiling. One leg was over the couch, as she was on the edge of the couch, almost dangling off. She let out a small sigh, as she soon heard foot-steps coming down from the staircase. The girls eyes moved over there, as she saw the man that lived in her house. A small smile spread across her face, as she took her leg off the couch, and sat up, as she 'properly' sat on the couch, staring at the man. He had noticed how she had changed positions, and let out a small chuckle.
"Getting comfy?" He asked, a hint of mischief in his eyes. Then again, when wasn't there? The girl nodded, laughing a little bit too.
"Yeah, what took you so long?" She asked, but said the last part more teasingly. The man rolled his eyes, as he finally got off the stairs, and walked over to the girl. He sat down, and took something out of his pocket. A.. gun? The girl looked startled, but then smiled a little bit again. This obviously had to do with one of his many plans, right? But, she still wanted to ask.
"What's that for?" She asked, pointing towards the gun. The man let out a small sigh, but not of irritation. He seemed to be at peace.
"You need to test your shooting, don't you?" He asked, as the girls smile brightened.
"Y- yeah of course! Thank you!" She asked, as she quickly tried to grab the gun. But, he grabbed her hand and let out another small chuckle.
"Hey, not so fast. You don't even know how to hold it." He said, but said it in more of a mocking voice. The girl rolled her eyes, as he got up. He took a few steps away from her, and made his feet shoulder width apart, and held out the gun, about level to his chest, and had both hands around it. One around the trigger, and another just steadying it.
"This is more of a position.. if you have time to get into it. If you both have a gun, you shoot like your damn life depends on it. But, this is what I call the 'beginners' pose, as you have the gun more sturdy. And it looks cool." He explained. The girl, seemed very interested at first, but at the last line, she laughed a little.  "Duck." He said, as she did. But, was still watching him, as she was expected him to shoot. Which he did. She watched as one finger wrapped itself into the trigger, pulled back, then let go. Once the 'bang' could be heard, she sat up and clapped. The man laughed, and brought his legs together, as he bowed. He then handed the gun over to the girl, and squeezed her hand.
"Now you shoot, Anna." He mumbled. The girl, named Anna, nodded and got up. She got her legs shoulder width apart, and her gun pointing out, at about her chest. She gulped, and looked straight ahead, until she found herself forming a question, and it passed her lips.
"Where?" Anna asked, staring back at her uncle. He seemed in thought, until his eyes looked like he had just regained the thought.
"Me." He mumbled, and Anna's eyes went wide.
"You?! I can't.. shoot.. you! I need you! I'm still not ready, I still need-" Anna seemed to start rambling, as he laughed again.
"Do you really think I'd give you real bullets? I've tested these out on myself, but I didn't want to shoot you, as it would hurt you more then it hurt me." He said, as Anna sighed with relief. He was lying, but Anna didn't know yet. And who was this.. man? Well, no one else but her uncle. Her uncle, who ended up dying.
"Alright. Where?" Anna asked, steadying herself up again, moving her self more so she was aimed at him. He sat up straight, until he decided it would be easier for her if he stood.
"My chest. So you can know what it feels like to shoot someone fatally, for you will have to someday." Her uncle admitted. He did in fact, have a name. Keith, actually. But Anna didn't usually address him by it, and when she did, it was important. Anna felt herself shake a bit, but cursed to herself. Be strong for him, and your future. You don't want everything he's helped you with to go to waste right. Anna narrowed her eyes, and looked for his chest. She had it facing directly, as she closed her eyes briefly. Anna then opened them again, and fired. It all happened so fast. She heard the bang, and smiled as she let out a small laugh.
"I did it! Uncle Keith, I did it-" Anna said happily, until her voice fell flat. He was clutching where she had shot.  "A- are you ok?" Anna asked, as she moved closer, and he tried to sit up. Anna's eyes were full of pure horror, and her heart seemed to stop. He was bleeding, and due to her new 'ability' to try and read people through their eyes, she could see he was in pain. She felt a sob rising in her throat. But, he reached a hand to her face.
"Hey, its ok. You've done everything you could. Your going to do amazing. Just remember what I always told you, ok? Your going to be the best person I could have asked for. Go, make an imprint in the world, ok?" He managed to say, as Anna squeezed his hand. She was shaking. She had.. shot him. He was dying. She was going to be the murder of her uncle.
"I- I will. I'll always remember, alright? I bet you.. 6 years from now, I'll be making your proud. I'll always remember what you told me, ok? I.. I won't let anyone see past me. I'll uh.. be strong. I bet I'll be able to see past everyone.. too." Anna said, repeating everything he had driven into her mind. He nodded, as he kissed her hand, and let out one last gasp for air, before leaving. Anna let out a horrible scream, throwing her gun away. She didn't know what to do... didn't know how to solve this. She felt lost, as she fell to her knees. Tears began to run down her cheeks, as if she wasn't controlling them. Anna let out a sob, as it finally managed to pass through her lips. It felt horrible. But, she let herself promise one last thing. She wouldn't ever let herself become like this again. Yeah.. she had to.. numb herself. Anna began to breathe again, and stared at him, and forced herself to not see anything. To not.. feel guilt, or regret when she saw him.. dead. From the viewpoint of someone else, she would look like a cold-blooded murderer. The way she would look.. 6 years from now. But deep down? Everything still hurt. And it always would. But who would be so weak and naive, to let anyone see how they truly felt?
