It was August 6, 1992, when Sarah was kidnapped. Sarah was just an ordinary 15-year-old girl in her freshmen year of high school. Sarah had come home late that night because band practice took extra time that day. Her mother was furious. There was an important dinner that Sarah had missed with her mother's fiance, Bill. Sarah had never liked Bill. She said he was not good enough for her mother when in reality she just did not want her mom replacing her dad. Her dad had died three years ago in the army.
Sarah's mother told Sarah to sit down at the kitchen table so they could have a little chat. Sarah sat across from her mother and looked into her eyes. She saw her mother's eyes were burning with anger. She had never seen her mom that angry in her life. Sarah was actually a little scared at what her mother had to say.
"Sarah", Sarah's mother takes a deep breath, "I have tried everything possible to get you and Bill closer but you are just unbearable."
"But...", Sarah tried to add but her mother cut her off.
"Sarah, you break my heart. I love Bill and he loves me very much. You should want us to be happy but instead, you act selfishly. Since you can't act like your grown in mature, I will treat you like you are a child. You are grounded for a month. No phone and no computer."
Sarah could not hold it in any longer, she said, "How dare you? You act like I am a child but you are the child! Dad has only been gone three years and your getting married! As a matter of fact, you could not wait a whole year after he died to start dating because it was five months later and you found Bill. You only think about yourself! You never once stopped and thought how you moving on so quickly would affect me!"
"Sarah Fay Smith!", Sarah's mother yelled.
"I am done! I want nothing to do with you and Bill!" Sarah yelled as she stormed out the front door.
When the door slammed shut Sarah's mother called Bill in tears.
"I don't know what to do anymore Bill. She doesn't listen to reason and al she does is call me names." Sarah's mother said.
"She is going through a lot right now Jane, she just needs more time to adjust." replied Bill.
"I have given her enough time. I have. I just cant deal with it anymore. She breaks my heart." Jane said.
"I understand honey. Just go to bed and get some rest. Things may be better in the morning." Bill told Jane.
"Okay, Love you," Jane said.
"Love you too, goodnight," Bill replied.

Sarah was walking down the street in the dark; the only light was the moon's soft rays.
"I really wish this street had street lights" Sarah whispered to herself as she turned on her phone's flashlight.
She walked a few blocks and began to feel like she was being watched. Then she heard a stick crack behind and she turned around shining her phone's light in the direction of the noise.
"Hello?" Sarah called out into the darkness. There was no reply.
She started walking again but when she turned around someone had grabbed her. She tried to scream and fight but the person had covered her mouth with a cloth that made her sleepy. She tried to keep her eyes open but they fluttered closed. She dropped her phone as the person loaded her into a car's trunk. The person slammed the trunk closed and got into the car and started driving. This was the moment that Sarah's life changed forever.
