Im very scared of dying. Who isnt...

Let me rephrase that. I'm afraid of the world outside the facility i lived in almost all my life. To me, i never knew anything past the castle of glass and i always imagined a world didn't exist past the mountain peaks. Growing up i was told to believe that the people in the facility were the only people alive and thats what i believed in until recently.

It always snowed here. If i look back on it i couldn't remember a time when it didn't snow and would often pile up until it covered the windows. Yet i was never afraid of dying. The people who worked there would often be scientists and doctors from all across the globe who worked on many different projects. As a kid, they were always so calm and that loosened my fears. Of the loneliness, the death that happened around me that i was forced to forget because of the trauma it brought me.

I wasn't scared of death. At the time... But year after year i would learn something new about the facility which horrified me. Deadly experiments on poor unsuspecting people who seeked help from the snow and the incidents that happened around every corner.

Yet, i was left alive. A kid who had no where to go and no one to see. i had my own room and i was often not aloud out of my room. At most i could walk in the halls and in the lounge but that was it. It was quiet, a lonely life.

My dad was a scientist who worked at the facility and was often busy doing work so he had no time for me. Between the moment the sun was about to vanish to the moment when the moon comes up, was the only time he had for me.

Coming to my room, he would often bring me the best gifts he can salvage and afford considering our isolation from the outside world. But even when he gave me teddy bears and toys meant for girls, no other gift left me with hope then the books of the world outside this castle of glass.

Tales of heroes and heroines saving lives from the wicked, stories of people trying to fight for whats right, they all brought a glimmer in my eyes. Book after book, i soon gain a collection of series and short stories that helped developed my personality. But they did leave me with an empty feeling inside after i finished the last lines of every new book. Can i be like them? Someone who fought for whats right and save the lives of countless people?

"What is it that you want?" My dad told me One day.

"To leave this place and save people lives?" I said sounding so optimistic.

Gasping he stared at me with a face of uncertainty. He wanted to change the subject and was desperately trying to find a way to avoid it. But a sudden voice in his head refused and he kept on going.

"One day, after all this is over. You can get to see the city skies again and be able to see the stars glimmering up at the sky," He told me. My eyes sparkled in happiness.

"The Lights in the sky? So it is true!? Just like in my dream!" I blurted out while sitting on my soft bed. Even before then, i would dream of the sky. A dark sky with white dots glimmering to the earth like diamonds. Even though I've never seen the stars, i could dream them and what a book later told me, dreams often are recollection of memories imprinted from the moment you are born.

Why do i remember the stars even though i spent my entire life in a kingdom where no lights glimmer at night.

"Just hold out your heart and do what you believe in and you'll never be lost, my precious daughter." He said. "So i can make a difference if i try hard enough?" I asked. He nodded with a warm smile. "And when we leave i promise you i will take you to our family as long as you stay a good girl." He told me. I couldn't be more happier.

That day was the longest i ever talked to him. Afterwords we talked about our lives and laughed at each others failures. We both were clumsy people and we both laughed at it. On how he dropped his hot lunch onto a ladies whole body and on how i got in trouble for losing my books in the most unusual and random places. Even though, to many people, it was worth nothing to take note of. It was the most happiest time of my life.
