If Only ⇢ Kai x Ein

⇢ Chapter 2

I started crying over again.

Kai sympathetically looked over at me and unwrapped his arm.

"I'm sorry, Ein. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions, it was just a thought, since I believe we need to look from other point of views as well.." Kai whispered, curious of what happened to his parents.

I didn't reply, I stayed silent, only my muffled crying was heard.

Kai signed as I heard him get up and walk away from me

Was he leaving me here...?

Whatever! I can finally die in peace..

When I heard the snow stop crunching under his as he walked away, I heard him climb up a tree and retrieve something that banged together when he jumped back off.

I then heard him walking back over to me, but I stayed silent.

Why can't he just go away? He's been stalking me for a while now and watching me fail, he said he wanted to help me yet he never did.

My thoughts were interrupted by the warm feeling of a soft blanket going around my shoulders. I carefully looked up to see Kai adjusting the blanket comfortably onto my shoulders.

I then watched him turn back to a bag of items. I guess that's what he retrieved from the tree.

He took out a large bottle of water and handed it over to me.

I looked at it for a while, but then hesitantly took it from his hands and took a large sip of it. The wonderful feeling of water going into my dry throat was a relieving feeling.

What is he doing now?

Once I was done I handed it back to him and he put it back into his bag and smiled over at me.

My eyes widened as I raised an eyebrow at him as he starred at me.

"Right now, we just need to get you to shelter. I'm not just going to let you die out here just because you think you've failed." Kai interrupted the silence.

Before I could object, he put one hand underneath my knees and the other on my back and carefully lifted me from the cold snow. I winced and let out a soft groan as the deep cuts I had were being moved.

Soon he was carrying me bridal style through the forest, his tail was carrying his bag while he carefully made his way to his destination.

Where is he taking me? Why would he help me? And why only now?

I still remained silent and decided that I couldn't do much because of the state I was in.

I looked down and saw blood stains over the snow, I guess this is where Aaron was.. I really do wonder what happened to them all, what if Aphmau was still under my control?

I decided to break the silence as those thoughts crossed my mind.

"K-Kai?" I asked, my voice cracking as I haven't talked in a long time.

"Hmm?" He replied and looked down at me while still walking through the snowy forest, dodging the loose trees and leaves.

"Since you claim that you've been watching this for a while, do you know what happened to Aaron and Aphmau? Is she still under my control?" I asked

Kai smiled warmly at me.

"Worried, I see?" He joked and giggled

"Worried? Why on earth would I b-" I began but Kai cut me off with a chuckle.

"I was joking!" He laughed "But in all seriousness, yes I do know, since I followed Aaron from in the trees when he walked away from the fight with you, hence why I wasn't there to see you get attacked by the wolves. I wish I was...." His smile faded.

My eyes softened as I looked up at him

"He struggled walking back, but when he got back to his friends, Aphmau was still under your control and she attacked him, stabbing him a few extra times with the knife you gave her until he passed out. Something he whispered triggered Aphmau, causing her to come back to her normal self and break free from the potion. I'm not sure what it was though. But after that, everyone was in utter panic as they managed to get in contact with Aaron's parents and a doctor, then after that, Aaron was taken back to the lodge and taken care of. I think they're all still there now." Kai finished.

"Oh... Okay.." Was all I could say.

I didn't know how to feel about that. I guess my mission did truly fail.

"But on the bright side, everyone is okay." Kai smiled at me once again.

My eyes lit up and I looked into his orange orbs.

I can't believe I was saved by someone who I thought was my enemy..
