"The guy turned, but I can't-" Elder Zee shushed me and petted my head again.

"It's alright Melanie. I'll call for a vampire to come and pull the memory, but first I need to start the

healing process, before it gets too bad." I nodded a little and he quickly moved around his kitchen, preparing something.

"Here," He knelt down in front of me with a dish of water that had a white tint to it. "Drink this." I sat up

a little and lapped up the odd tasting water. "You're going to have to turn back before I can clean the wound." I looked at him with sad eyes, knowing it was going to hurt, but nodded. Elder Zee turned to Dylan, "Uh, you might want to step outside, the odor will become stronger once I start treating it." Dylan looked over at me hesitantly before nodding to Elder Zee.

I closed my eyes as he gather his supplies. I was almost asleep when he placed his hand on my back. "Melanie, you can't fall asleep." I whimpered but obeyed. "I need you to turn back now." I clenched my

eyes shut and whimpered as I turned back to my human form. I was breathing heavy from how hard it was to turn with the silver in my system and I didn't want to move anymore. "Turn over." I whimpered as I slowly rolled onto my back. Elder Zee moved the blanket away from the wound and he made a disapproving sound. "This is worse than I thought it'd be." I yelped as he brushed the treatment on like it was paint and I kept my jaw clenched as I waited for him to finish. "Okay." He put a patch over the wound and helped me roll onto my side again. Dylan looked over his shoulder to see Elder Zee walking back into the kitchen with the treatment just before he opened the door to reenter the house. "Actually Dylan, Melanie is going to need to get dressed before our vampire assistant arrives, unless Melanie doesn't mind that is." Dylan looked over at me before he nodded to Elder Zee, not even waiting for me to give any kind of answer, and he stepped outside again.

I smiled a little at his courtesy before thanking him. He looked over his shoulder for a second,

acknowledging my thanks, before returning his gaze to the ground. Elder Zee helped me dress myself with much patients and I sighed as I laid down on the dog bed again. Dylan entered the house again as I slowly pulled the blanket up to my face and closed my eyes to enter sleep, but the door was opened again and I stayed awake to listen.

"Ah thank you for coming so quickly." The vampire didn't say anything so I assumed he just nodded.

"She was attacked and the attacker had some silver, so it's difficult for her to recall details from the event. I was hoping you'd be able to help us with that." I assumed the vampire nodded again and I sighed. I heard it crouch down in front of me before they brushed the hair out of my face. I slowly opened my eyes to see Carter give me a small smile.

"Carter." I whispered to him and he nodded. I was confused as to why he was chosen to do this, but I

didn't bother to ask as I moved to expose more of my neck for him. He pulled the blanket back before he brushed my hair away and pulled the collar of my shirt over my shoulder. He slowly bit into my neck, causing me to hiss from pain. He took one drink and contemplated what he was seeing before he took another drink and pulled away.

"She was attacked by five werewolves; all of them had their eyes turned gold. She jumped at one of them

through a window and they threw her off  before they turned. They had brown fur that was slightly red. One of the others stabbed her in the side as she jumped to attack the wolf. Dylan attacked the one who stabbed her and tore up the guy's arm pretty badly. They all ran off after that." Elder Zee nodded and I could tell by the look on his face that he wasn't happy about the fact that they were all werewolves.

"Thank you, Carter."

He nodded before speaking again. "The elder vampires would like to know if you are still waiting the

three weeks to address the human killing that occurred?"

"Actually I was going to address that tomorrow. We need to have a meeting to figure out what happened

with Melanie." Carter nodded again. "Thank you again, Carter. That'll be all." Carter nodded one final time and I closed my eyes, but I quickly opened them again when my hair was being brushed out of my face. Carter watched me as he tucked the hair behind my ear and sent a thought to me.

"Alabaster was the one to receive Zee's thought. Trey and I had been in the same room with him when he

received the thought. He told us that Zee needed someone to pull a memory from the future alpha because she was attacked. Alabaster had looked over to Trey, thinking he'd volunteer, but Trey had his gaze fixed on the floor, from shock it looked like. Alabaster sighed because Trey was expressing a human emotion before he asked if I would do it." I sighed before I closed my eyes and nodded a little. Carter tucked my hair behind my ear again. "Get well soon, Princess." I nipped at his hand as a sign of thanks, but I quickly opened my eyes and was about to apologize when Carter smiled a little and shook his head, telling me not to worry about it. I closed my eyes again and Carter left the house.

"Alright Melanie, because of the silver that's in your system it's gonna take longer for that bite to heal as

well." I nodded and kept my eyes closed as Elder Zee put a patch over the bite mark. "You can also go to sleep now if you'd like." He tucked the fallen hair behind my ear, "Good night my little Ghost Wolf." He kissed my head before standing up. "Dylan, I can set up the couch for you-"

"I'm okay. I can sleep in this chair."

"Alright. Night, Dylan." Elder Zee opened and closed his bedroom door, leaving us to go to sleep. I

sighed as I felt sleep quickly over come me.

*****

I woke up about an hour later for no reason and I sighed. I looked over at Dylan to see him sitting in the

chair next to the front door with his head bowed down; he looked like he was sleeping. "Dylan?" I whispered his name and waited. He slowly opened his eyes and he blinked before looking over at me. "We're you sleeping?" He shook his head and I rubbed my eye. "Will you come lay with me?" I whispered even quieter, a little ashamed at the request. He looked a little taken aback, but he nodded.

I closed my eyes and heard him stand up from his chair and walk over to the dog bed I was still lying on.

He carefully laid behind me and draped his arm over me. He was about to lay his face in my neck, but he settled for pressing his face into the back of my neck because he remembered I still have the bite wound. "Night, Melanie." Dylan whispered to me before he licked the back of my neck and pressed his face into the back of my neck again.
