"Dan!" my body turned to face the voice, seeing nothing but a dark corridor, with a faint light at the end. I walked to the bright source, gasping at the person standing at the end.
"W-Woody..." I reached out to grab him, shocked when his wrist disintegrated into smoke. "What the..."
"Why did you let them put Will in prison? We all trusted you, Dan," the C. S. I. disappeared into the shadows, leaving a trail of gray smoke behind.
"It's not my fault!!!" I screamed at the light, now being consumed by shadows. "Why can't anyone understand?!"
"I understand."
My knees collapsed as my eyes laid upon the familiar face, the familiar spider tattoo on the man's forearm. Sure, I was dreaming, but why now? Why'd he come a year after his life sentencing?
"Will. Why-"
"Wake up, Dan. I'm in prison, you have other things to worry about..." my friend blurred into the dark shadows of the room.
"Dan!" my eyes snapped open, and I felt an uncomfortable sensation all over my body.
"Wha-" I blinked at my birthday twin. "What happened?" my hand placed itself on my head as the pain flowed in while sitting up.
"You were chloroformed, and you can guess the rest," Alicia pointed at my wrist.
I had been chained to some sort of pole, while my other arm was free from the metal restraints, Kyle's protégé was the same, but chained to a different pole. My eyes shot all over the darkened room, unsuccessfully able to see a thing. And my legs felt utter pain, and I looked down to see them positioned in a strange way. 'Agh,' I flinched as my legs returned to a normal sitting position. 'Where the fuck are we?' I could tell Alicia had no clue as to where we were either, as I could see the silhouette of her head frantically moving in all directions.
Then, the lights came on- too quickly. I groaned as my eyes struggled to open in the blinding light; now I knew how vampires felt when they were exposed to sunlight. But as my tired eyes refocused themselves, they spotted a note sitting on the floor between Alicia and I. 'What the fuck is this?' my fingers grazed the smooth, white paper, picking it up from the cement floor.
Dan and Alicia,
Welcome. You are in what I call The Dark Room.
"Pff, real creative with the name," I muttered with sarcasm. The room was the complete opposite of dark, in fact, it was quite bright in here, and there were piles of furniture put into large clutters. Strange.
You've been locked inside, and each time you fail to escape, a barrier will be placed before you. Look beside your friend, there should be a box locked with a lock; try to unlock the box to get the key. In this room, you have a curved stick, some twine, three arrows, a slingshot, and some large pebbles. Good luck with trying to escape. ;)
P.S. the stick is VERY strong, so don't worry about breaking it.
"I knew it," I clenched my fists, crushing the small slip of paper inside. "Kyle put us in an escape room."
"Bastard," Alicia shook her head as she picked up the box. "What do you think the combination is?" we stared at the lock, stumped about the lock's number combo.
I carefully examined the numbers, taking into account that it only went up to sixty. These types of locks usually had a combination stuck to the back, but there wasn't any point in cheating off of it since I saw it wasn't on the back. The only thing I could do was try to think of every possible combination, that was going to take en eternity- literally. 'Kyle, why?' I groaned out loud as my hand frantically twisted and turned the lock's dial.
