Waking into the office, I have really lost faith in this country's system. With so many women missing you'd think that the police would be worried and thorough investigations would be done. That isn't the case, the police force and the mayor of this town are turning a bilnd eye to what is happening. The Prices are the biggest mafia group in this country and they are involved in the most biggest crimes that have happened in this place. I think some of the cops in the this area are on their payroll, it terrifies me that some of my colleagues are dirty cops and have lost their sense of justice.

"You called for me captain?" I walked into capital Retief's office, it is almost time to go home and I really hope that he isn't going to me ask me to put in extra hours

"Yes officer, Greene, I think it's time we close the case of Thomas Price, we hsve been investigating him for over a year and and every time we have a lead it leads to a dead end"

" No, no no captain we're so close, what about the witnesses we have now? Won't their testimonies be enough for us to build a case against him?" I no this wasn't happening, they are getting away, I worked so hard to find that evidence, this can't be happening

"Officer you all the witnesses that we had or potentially had all turned up dead, we can't risk more lives just so that we can nail this guy, we have even exhausted all our resources trying to go after him"

"What about the statements that those witnesses signed, won't they be sufficient? We can't let them go away captain" "every time we turn a blind eye, a girl goes missing, captain we can't allow that to happen, please give me a few weeks to get solid evidence" I was yelling and the office became silent. I felt like my chest was closing in and I was getting a migraine

"Greene, Sophia happened years ago and we don't know if she was taken, you have to let that go"

" Don't mention her name, and you of all people should know that I uphold the law above everything else, that man needs to be brought to justice and it has nothing to do with my sister" at this point I was pacing around office and only stopped when I responded to his blasphemous accusations

"Don't give me that, even the most honourable officers, tend to overstep the boundaries set by the law for one reason or another" stopping me dead in my tracks, what the hell was he saying? What was he implying?

"Cap, please give me on6r last shot at this I promise I'll bring solid evidence not just witnesses" pleading I really needed to do this

"No, the case has been closed and we have no resources, Greene. Now focus your energy on the most important cases, one that we can deal with alright?" He said with finality in his voice

Nodding my head, I turned to leave,
"I better not catch you sniffing around the Prices and this case against Price, or else you won't like the consequences"

This isn't over. What is the purpose of the law if it cant protect the people that need it the most. I have so many questions that need to be answered ine of them being that, should I worry about my boss?
