Everything was cold. Cold and white and quiet, that was the Lab. Over time, of course, vines snuck their way through the solid walls, adding a slight bit of color to the otherwise heartless world. There were people there, scientists, who didn't really do much science, their equations mindless and meaningless. There were guards too, people who stood around playing with their weapons, not guarding much of anything. Besides, who needs guards when the bars of cells are electrified?

Oh, and then there's the prisoners. There could be hundreds, thousands of people, all hybrids and all imprisoned. Their pasts were astonishingly alike for all those people, but then again they were all alike when they were free.

They've been in the Lab as long as they could remember. They expected to be there forever.

And then, he came.
And that, my dear readers, is where our tale begins.
