Eden pov.

It's dark , why can't I see anything ? Grandma Kat was here , why was she here ? I have to wake up . oh god someone's coming !

"Well isn't this just great , I get to kill grandma and you dear ." Josh said nudging my head with his gun

I looked up seeing my grandmother sitting in a chair tied up with blood running down her blouse

"Grandma what are you doing here . You're not supposed to be here !" I yelled tears forming in my eyes

"I'm fine baby ." She stated breathlessly

"Why are you doing this ! Please .. please josh don't hurt her . You have me , do whatever to me just please don't hurt her ." I begged as the tears rolled down my cheeks

"She never wanted to accept me into the family , she didn't want me to be apart of the Miles family . I told her for years that Susan was my mother but did she accept me ? Nooo , she'd rather me send her to a home than to accept me as her grandson ." Josh yelled pointing the gun at grandma

"You were not my son's son so why should I accept you and your own mother didn't accept you , don't blame me for your mother's mistake ." Grandma scoffed

I sat quiet taking it all in . Josh my foster brother ? Why didn't Susan tell us this ?

"Maybe next life you'll learn to accept people for who they are ." Josh said cocking the gun

"Please , don't do this josh . I'm beg-" I tried to continue as the lump in my throat grew larger "I'm begging you , I need her "

"I love you baby okay , I know you'll do big things and I'll be watching down on you each and everyday of your beautiful life . You are truly an angel on earth and god has big plans just keep fighting , I know you'll make me proud ." My grandma said closing her eyes

I cried harder putting my head down"Grandma don't talk like that ."

"I love you grandma , and .. and you're going to be okay , we're going to get out-" POW POW POW

My heart dropped like never before , it was like my whole world had ended in the blink of an eye . She laid there drooped over in her chair , each blink my cries became more and more reckless .

Josh stood there smiling pleased at his work , he put the gun in his waistband and walked out of the room without saying anything . I looked dead at the floor not being able to bare another look at her , there was so much blood pouring from her head , stomach , and chest . I just couldn't control myself any longer .

I felt like I was fighting to lose and it was only going to continue to hurt me , how dare he take half of my heart away from me . He's instilled rage and anger inside of me that no man or woman could ever remove and now , I'm a mad black woman . A black woman who is tired and just ready for whatever at this point .

There's so much blood ...

"Eden , You okay ? I heard you screaming from my room " Cole said stepping back from the bed

I looked up at him realizing I was having another nightmare , this was my first week back in his house . He was here for me a lot considering the fact that a bullet grazed one of his arteries and nearly hospitalized him for some time .
