You muffled your crying into weak sobs as your body curled into a tight knot, inching away from the others approaching. Tears twinkled in your eyes as you shrank deep into the bushes surrounding the perimeter of the park. Your small hands trembled as you watched three sets of sneakered feels thump past you.

"Come on out you stupid, weak coward! I'm not done with you yet! Quirkless losers like you need to learn your place!" He hissed violently, heating radiating off of him.

Another set of shoes intersected his path, planting firmly into the grass. Your small hands trembled as you watched, afraid that more people were flocking to his side. "Leave her alone Kacchan!" He ordered. "She hasn't done anything!"

Kacchan, or as he now preferred to go by Bakugo, whipped around at the stranger, shoving a wave of heat at him and sending him flying. You yelped in surprise as Bakugo's lackeys cackled in laughter. "Your in the same boat Deku! Learn your place!" He barked.

He raised a palm, flames bursting to life as his hand propelled downward at the kid who protected you. You watched from your hiding spot, breathe caught in your throat as time seemed to slow. The green haired boy threw up his arms in defence as Kacchan threw his fist down at him. Your feet moved of their own accord, instinct taking over your crippling fear.

You darted through Bakugo's lackeys expertly and swung around Bakugo's front, arms swung in front of you as you closed your eyes. The heat felt blistering against your skin but you held strong. A cold feeling washed over you as pain ripped over your body. "Leave him alone!" You screamed, eyes flying open.

The pain dulled into a warm, buzzing pain as your skin visibly shifted, hardening into layered, iron scales. Kacchan's hand crashed against your iron flesh and you braced yourself as a bloody shriek of pain burst from his mouth.

His hand crumbled, breaking as it flew down and he quickly retreated it to his chest. His lackeys stood amazed, not able to move as your arms fell and you stood against him with tearful eyes. Though your expression was a sheet of solid determination, trying your best not to waver.

"Go away!" You ordered, refusing to move.

Kacchan's eyes lit with rage as he swung a plain fist at your head. This time you didn't move in time, and darkness crept into your vision as you took the full force of the hit. Lights out.

When you opened your eyes again, Kacchan was gone. You lifted your head slowly and looked around you, spotting the green-haired boy a few feet away from you, unconscious.

You sat up slowly, cradling a pounding headache as you inched towards him. A hand on his shoulder, you shook him gently. "Hey," you cooed gently. "Hey boy, wake up." You asked.

He groaned quietly, eyes slowly opening as you leaned over him. He blinked a few times before looking at you. "Who are you?" He asked.

"My name is (Y/N)." You replied, pulling him up. "What about you?"

"M-Midoriya," he stuttered.

You offered a weak smile and bowed your head. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you..." You apologized.

"I-It's okay!" He assured. "Are you alright?"

You shrugged, tucking your chin into your legs as you folding them against you. "I think so..."

Midoriya frowned before standing and lending you a hand. "You can come to my house! My mom can call your mom." He offered.

You smiled brightly, pulling yourself up and nodding. "Okay!" You chirped, taking his hand.

Night had crept into the sky while you were knocked out, and mom always said to be inside before night time.

Midoriya led you to his home and you followed dutifully. When you got inside, his mom panicked but he lied about Kacchan. It confused you, but you remained silent until his mother spoke directly to you. "Oh, and what's your name sweetheart?" She asked gingerly, her smile big.

You averted your eyes, hiding behind Midoriya and grabbing on to his shirt. You didn't enjoy talking to adults, it made you nervous. "M-My name i-is  (Y-Y/N)." You muttered, face flushed of all color.

"Oh, I see. Do you know your mommy's name?" She asked.

You remained silent until Midoriya looked at you and smiled. You liked him enough that it gave you the confidence to speak up. "Mommy's name is Mary. But her students call her Mrs. (L/N)."

His mom nodded and proceeded to pick up a phone book, shuffling through the numbers as you remained clutching to Midoriya's shirt. After dialing, she smiled briefly at you as it rang. After a while, there was no answer and she left a message. Sighing, she looked at you and knelt down to your level.

"Well, it seems like your mommy is taking a nap, but if you want you can stay here tonight!" She offered.

Your eyes lit up and your nodded happily, a smile appearing on your face. His mom smiled in unison and picked both you and Midoriya up, setting you on the couch. You finally released Midoriya's shirt as his mother cleaned off and put bandaids on your wounds.

Midoriya turned on a popular cartoon and the two of you watched eagerly until you eventually fell asleep.

You were barely awake when you saw the televisions fuzzy images. Midoriya's mom has picked you up and was cradling you as you watched the Breaking News that flashes across the screen.

"The villain known as Acidic Blood is rampaging through the city currently, his destruction starting early today after he robbed a bank. On his rampage he has continued to take lives as collateral for the heroes in pursuit. Citizens are advised to stay inside and lock all doors and windows.

The list of victims are as followed:
Ako Kubuyashi
Rebecca Faust
Takashi Arakawa
Yama Tsusugon
Elaine Matthew and
Mary (L/N).

Stay tuned for further updates."

Your young mind didn't comprehend at the time, having just woken up not helping. All you really caught was your mother's name. "Mommy is on the news..." You said quietly.

"I'm so, so sorry (Y/N)..."

Clarification for later use as I only exhibited part of your quirk in this here prologue.

In this story, your quirk is labeled as elemental adaptation. You are able to adapt your body into metal (an iron like type, still flexible like flesh though), air, fire, and water. Where this might seem overpowered to some, your downfalls are explained in the reading. Have fun!
