In the night, there was a lullaby
She sang it so sweetly
A tune classic of time
About a boy who'll soon be leaving
The baby that she held
Once belonged to someone else
But between their worlds and differences
She'd still give up all she had
Just to gift him a million lives
She sang about the roses falling
And everything left to be behind
She sang about the endless calling
And the days she'd predict to cry
The child that she held
Was the only one that she could tell
All her love to be significant
And looking down into his eyes
She just knew that this was right
She asked him one day to return
To the flowers once called home
And to speak of peace for her
Even if she were to rest alone
The one that she once held
Would age with her as well
And as it would come to pass
He always promised to come back
Just as she had given all she had
So he'll come back to the valley
Where one day she'll come to lay
Sweet as her song the ground will be
And richer than what he'd ever seen
And before he has to turn to go
He'll kneel to say I love you so

So, I wrote this on a whim, but it's actually loosely based around the old Irish folksong Danny Boy. It's a really pretty song that's kind of played a lot at funerals... but it's a ballad I've really come to like and I'd recommend you go check it out if you've never heard of it before!
