It's currently 5:00 and I'm still alone, I quietly collected my things and made my way to the entrance. Dropping the book I borrowed and saying bye I made my way to the doors pulling them open, but an unexpected force was pushing it open causing it to hit me in the forehead and knocking me on my tailbone.

"Oh hey, why were you behind the door?" Someone laughed at me. Opening my eyes I see the one and only Christian Blankenship.

"Oh no reason, just love the pain of being hit with a metal door by a, gasp, badboy" I sarcastically replied, putting my hand up to my head and rubbing. I'm happy that I went home and changed my bottoms or else these people would've had a full view of whats under my skirt. I pushed myself up and dusted my butt off grabbing my bag off the ground.

"Anytime cutie," he winked with a flirtatious smile on his face, but he quickly sobered up as if someone had slapped him. "You're Joanna Andrews right?"

I nodded and adjusted my bag higher on my shoulder, the weight of my textbooks weighing it down. I had brought them all not knowing what we'd study, we hadn't contacted each other.

"Let's just get this over and done with"

"Ok well, um, we can study over there?" I asked pointing to a table close to the romance section. Not feeling as sarcastic as I did a few seconds ago. "Or, you know, we can sit wherever you want."

He just rolled his eyes and began walking over to the table. He impatiently waved me over after he sat down and had taken out his books. I jogged over to the table and pulled out a chair hoping to not piss him off.

"So let's start with math"

"Oh shit it's 8:30, I gotta go" I started packing up my stuff into my bag and slung it over my shoulder.  "Thanks for doing this, I'll see you Friday in study hall."

I make my way to my car and chunked my bag into the backseat. Putting my keys in the ignition and turning it hearing it crank, sputter, and die. Muttering a quick 'come on Rachel you can do it baby' and doing it a few more times before it stopped completely. Stepping out and slamming the door I popped the hood checking the obvious signs.

"Hey, I know you're off duty, but I need a tow. She's not starting again." I was calling Jeff, the owner of a tow company that I have come to know so well.

"Yeah it's fine, where are you?"

"I'm at the library on Shorter. Can you please just drop it off at the shop. I'll pay you after school tomorrow."

"Sure, I'll see you in about 10 minutes. Bye Jo" he replied hanging up.

Going around to the hood once more, I checked everything else to make sure they were still working. Parts for these cars are so expensive because it's a classic car and everyone wants one. If only I had a better job I could aff-.

"Hey, this your car?" Christian questioned scaring the ever-loving-shit out of me making my head snap up and hit the hood. Then he started laughing, bucking over and holding his chest. "Oh fuck I can't believe you did that."

"Oh you just love me getting hurt don't you." I replied rubbing my head once more. "Yes this is my car. Why are you asking?"

"No reason, just didn't take you as the type of person to buy a car like this." He said nonchalantly. I raised my eyebrow at this, you can't just assume something based on their looks.

"It was my grandfathers, he passed it onto me." I explained, remembering my grandfather and how he raised me. "I just can't afforded the parts to fix her"

"Aren't you like rich or something, what did daddy cut you off?" He said in the tone that implied he was talking to a child.

"No smart ass, I- look I don't have to explain my life to you." I told him looking away catching sight of Jeff's truck. "Now if you'll excuse me I have to go now."

I slammed down the hood and grabbed my bag from the seat. Walking over to Jeff's tow-truck I threw a glance over my shoulder and saw that Christian was leaning on the wall of the library, not moving. Turning my head back straight I put my bag inside the cab of the truck and helped Jeff back up to my car.

It took some time for us to get my car on the bed of the tow truck. Making sure everything was in place so nothing would break was the main thing. Almost everyone had left the parking lot because the library had closed almost 30 minutes ago. Christian had moved from his spot on the wall the last time I looked over there. The only person left besides us was someone on a motorcycle who left as soon as I got into the truck.

"Hey ma, hey dad" I greeted as I walked through the door seeing them at the kitchen bar focused on their phones. The best they could do to acknowledge me was putting their hand up, but then putting it back down quickly. Seeing the leftover Chinese takeout on the dinning table I assumed they ate without me.

Grabbing the leftovers and a water bottle I mumbled a quiet 'goodnight' to my parents and made a beeline to my room. Plopping down on my bed I turned on my T.V and changed it to reruns of Friends.

Eating and changing into pajamas had made me feel better after the night I had. Tutoring with Christian wasn't as bad as I thought but my car isn't working so I'll have to take the bus everywhere.

Knowing I'd have to get up earlier for the bus I settled into bed and changed the tv channel to some random show so it'd lull me into sleep. However I just couldn't fall asleep because I was worrying over if I'd have enough money to get out of this town or if I'll be able to even graduate.
