I have to be the one to save her. Not Niall, me. This is the stupidest thing I've done so far. Trying to get Niall to be the one to save her when he doesn't even know who she is. He doesn't know what to and what not to say or do. He doesn't know what she likes and what she doesn't. Only I do. Sort of.

She can't have a boyfriend now, especially not him, but if the party ends badly, that could be even worse. Either way, she might be screwed. How am I supposed to get her out of this one? I do the only thing I can really think of: text her. She might not hear her phone at a party, but it's definitely worth a shot.

How's it going?

I wait a few minutes for a reply and I start to grow impatient. I lean forward and tap my foot quickly on the ground, staring intensely at the phone screen. I probably look like a psycho. Come on, Ariana, just check your phone.

fine

Fine? Is that seriously all I get after waiting ten minutes for an answer?

Tell Niall to drop you off at my house when he brings you home

I drop my phone on the bed and run my fingers through my hair. She doesn't seem fine. Something's probably going wrong. I bet she hates him, or just hates being there in general. She probably just wants to leave.

After almost two more hours of sitting there and thinking about what could be going wrong, there's a knock on the door. I shoot up and sprint down the stairs, opening the door less than five seconds after I heard the knock.

"Well, hello," Ariana says, giggling.

"Hi," I say, looking at Niall, who's standing next to her with a hand pressed to her back.

Ariana turns around to face Niall and smiles at him, pulling him into a hug. She pulls away and kisses his cheek before stepping inside. She holds the door open.

"That was fun, Niall," she says. "I have a feeling we could've been really good friends. Good night."

It takes a lot for me to stop myself from laughing. How could I not have thought of that one? She just friend-zoned him. Nice.

The color seems to fade away from Niall's face. He waves before walking back to his car and driving off. Ariana closes the door behind him and looks at me. Out of nowhere, she starts laughing and I raise an eyebrow at her.

"What's so funny?" I ask.

"That was supposed to be a date, right? He treated me like I was his best guy friend or something. I was flirting with him the whole time but he looked at me like I was you. He's a cool guy, though. Shame I didn't meet him earlier."

"Right...."

"So, why am I here?"

"I just wanted to know how it went, that's all."

"Seriously? That's why I'm here? Honestly, Harry, don't worry about me."

"That's kind of my job right now."
