Chapter One♡
I shoveled a cheesecake bite into my mouth and adjusted my strapless bra. The lavender gown I was required to wear was far from my own style. Normally, you would see me in black skinny jeans and a white crop top, but I was one of the bridesmaids so I was pretty much forced into a sparkly tight gown.
"Wow, Bella, way to make that cheesecake disappear." Kate sneered, approaching me in her pastel blue gown.
"Thanks, but you probably shouldn't touch any of it, your dress is looking a bit tight after all," I shot back sweetly.
She scoffed and chuckled at my reply. "Get over me, Bella. I know you're obsessed with me but you shouldn't make it so obvious."
I broke into laughter and watched her face transform into a disgusted look.
Maybe I should do some explaining. My name is Bella Harrison and my father is Braden Harrison. Since he is getting married to the queen, Alice Birmingham, I will be a princess and my dad will become the king. The queen's daughter is Katherine, and her son is Luke. I'm 15, Kate is 16, and Luke is 16. So basically I have no chance at the throne, but I would never want that much responsibility anyways. I'm going into my sophomore year of high school this August, but I have to go to a special private school with Kate and Luke.
My dad approached me and Kate in the king's traditional tuxedo. "How are things going over here?" He squeezed my arm in comfort.
"Great." We said at the exact same time. I rolled my eyes and Kate probably did too.
"Oh, please. I could sense the tension from way over there," My dad laughed through his sentence.
"Supper is being served now, please make your way toward the dining room!" A man over the speaker announced.
I groaned under my breath and trailed behind my dad, finding the seat with my name card on it.
I smoothed my huge fluffy dress down and observed who I was seated next to. My grandma Agatha, who had no filter and said everything on her mind, was on one side and my father was on the other.
"Sweetie!" Grandma Agatha squeezed my cheeks and I smiled. She was the only person who was allowed to do that to me. If anyone else tried that, they would end up face down in the trash can.
"You really should stop frowning, you're getting lines." She swiped my cheeks and I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"Bella! My sweet child," Suddenly my crazy aunt Madge sat down next to my grandma.
I smiled and waved in response because saying anything in front of her is just a bad idea. She takes everything the wrong way because she's messed up in the head.
Suddenly, servers in white and black uniforms came out with at least 50 platters of food. I spotted chicken fingers and french fries so I decided I would stick with that.
"Bella can you do me a favor?" My dad leaned over and whispered quietly.
"What is it?" I responded, taking a sip of my non-alcohol champagne.
"Please try the escargot-" He started before I cut him off and shook my head. "There is no way I'm eating a snail."
"Please, for me. You need to get used to this sort of stuff. I'll try it if you do." He pleaded.
"Fine," I mumbled and crossed my arms.
Halfway through my chicken fingers, I caught the eye of a guy who looked my age. He was seated across the long table from me and had light brown hair and blue eyes.
"He's so cute," I thought as I shoved a french fry in my mouth.
"Who are you checkin' out missy?" My grandma said a little too loudly.
"Grandma shhh." I softly grabbed her arm to prevent her from pointing to people.
"Don't shush me, young lady!" She lightly slapped my arm jokingly.
I chuckled and went back to staring at the boy, eating my chicken. All of a sudden, someone came from behind me and dumped a whole bowl of champagne on my head. I felt the whole room stare at me and the sound "oooo!" filled the space.
I gasped and turned around to see Kate strutting away, laughing maniacally. I sat there in disbelief before realizing how mad I was. My dad was sitting there shocked and annoyed.
"Oh my gosh!" "Is she okay?" "I can't believe she did that..."
These whispers filled the room as the champagne began pouring out of my hair and dress.
I sharply stood up and my chair made a loud sound that made the whole room go quiet. As I began storming out of the room angrily, I heard my dad yell, "Bella wait!"
I ignored him, slammed the door behind me loudly, and began sobbing.
A maid with her blonde hair in a bun came rushing towards me, "Miss Bella, is everything alright?"
I wiped tears from my eyes and shook my head. She placed her hand on my shoulder comfortingly.
"Kate just humiliated me in front of hundreds of people!" I scoffed, "Oh who am I kidding, the whole world will probably see it on the news!" I said with frustration.
"Everything will be ok," she said. "I have to go but I'm Grace if you need anything." And with that, she left me.
I slowly fell to the ground, crying more, when suddenly the dining room door began to open. I quickly threw my heels off and raced down the hallway, tripping over my dress.
"Miss Bella come back!" I heard Queen Alice's voice shouting angrily.
I turned the corner and went into the first room I came to, locking the door.
My tears stopped as I looked around the room. It was some sort of movie room, with large couches everywhere and a huge tv.
I carelessly threw myself into a couch and wondered why my life was so drama filled.
Suddenly, guards broke through the door and I jumped up from the couch.
