Neko Palette

Palette's POV

Honestly I don't care about being a neko. People freak out over it sometimes, but really it's just having ears and a tail. Skeletons can hear just fine without ears. Tails are annoying a lot. Yet, I've only told one person besides my parents about being a neko. That would be my bestest friend Goth. Speaking of Goth, he just walked into the room!

"Hello Palette!" Goth says cheerily. He rubs the top of my skull through my hat a bit, where he knows my ears are.  This contact makes me purr, which in turn makes Goth giggle.

"Gothyyyyyyy!" I yowl. This makes him laugh harder.

"W-What?" He chokes through his fit of laughter. I make a pouty face and turn so that munch whole body faces Goth. He laughs even more if that's possible. I slap him playfully in the face. 

"Awww is the kitten having a hissy fit?" Goth mocks, still giggling.

"Oh my g- How do I put I with you?" I laugh.

"Are you kitten me? I've only just begun! This isn't a cat-astrophy or anything!" Goth says, jumping at the opportunity of getting a few puns in. I slap him again. Tail waving back and forth. Then I start laughing.

"Gosh darn it I can't be mad at you Goth!" I laugh. We collapse on the floor, both laughing. I'm sure my face is flushed a greenish yellow color, but I do nothing to hide it. As we both calm down slightly Goth stares at me.

"You're cute when you're angry you know?" He says absent mindedly.

"I'm not cute!" I retort.

"Riiiiiiight keep telling yourself that kitty."

"Goooooth!"

Goth just smiles softly and sits up. He pulls me by one arm over to him. I end up on his lap. He takes off my hat and rests his chin between my ears, arms circling around my waist. I flick my ears forward, then backward, and repeat that motion.

"Pfft Palette that tickles!" Goth laughs. I move my ears faster, until Goth moves his head. "Aww come on Palette!" I burst out laughing.  "And you were asking how you put up with me!" Goth giggles.

"Sorry Gooooth! You're right it was punbelievably punderfully punny!" I taunt. This increases both of our laughing. Agh that moment I yawn a bit, like a kitten. Glancing at the clock I see 10:24.

"Ya tired Palette?" Goth says softly. I nod and nestle back into him. I faintly remember being picked up bridal style and placed into the bed across the room. "Night Palette," Goth whispers.

"Night, love you..." I whisper back.

"Love you too Palette," I hear faintly, before I fall asleep.

Minutes later I jolt up in bed, not tired, but full of a sudden adrenaline rush. Did I seriously just tell my best friend 'I love you' and.... Did he say it back??? Of course our friendship has always been borderline couple, but I've never heard either of us say we wanted to be more than friends. It's always just our flirtatious friendship, but now I've said those three words there's no going back. He seemed to have truth in his voice when he replied and... Ugh I'm so confused. Tomorrow I can talk to Goth about it, I should sleep now. The rush of adrenaline coursing through me keeps me from sleep the next few hours, but when I finally drift off it's a deep and peaceful sleep.

The next morning I'm woken by Goth shaking my shoulders.

"Palette wake up! It's like 10 am and we have the picnic with our parents later!" Goth says urgently. Oh yeah.. Parents. Picnic. 

"Right I'm up Goth.... First I need to ask you something though!" I groan from under the blankets.

"Mhmm?"

"Did you mean it when you said 'love you too' last night?" I question. Goth flushes purple and nods. "Well I meant it too," I smile. Pulling Goth closer to me I nuzzle his face, then kiss him. I kiss him for goodness sakes. At least he kisses back.
