"Welcome to Westernshire Labs"

A voice echoed through the microphone in the massive hall.

I perched my glasses a little higher up my nose.

I have worked so hard to be here and now I am walking on the same floor that my idol walked on.

Dr. Clarence Clyde

He is one of the most innovative scientists in the world, creating the revolutionary machine that formed this earth in a futuristic void.

I am not over-reacting but it was fact.

He created the 2-8000 Flaux Cord

This exquisite machine enables one to access the past through memories of the mind of the direct course.

In other words the person's past.

The brain cells are forced to cluster together with neuron patterns in the medial  temporal lobe with the use of electrified oxytin to be able to travel down the cord to form a image directly on a specialized computer software.

I know its a lot but it is amazing to see someone's past without the use of asking.

All with the use of science

"This lab is where the best of the best work alongside Dr. Clyde so do respect the environment that is encouraged"

The voice echoed, appearing as a twenty feet hologram in front of a crowd of eager graduates being thrown in the workplace.

I wasn't just eager, I was hungry.

I walked up next to a red head girl and watched up to get a closer detailed look of the hologram.

I pulled out a piece of paper out of my pocket where it hid.

The most important declaration of working here.

"Scientists make your way to your dorms according to the block and cubicle assigned. A scientist found residing outside his or her dorm would be sent home"

I focused intently on my paper.

My future was in this company and I couldn't throw it away.

I had nothing to go back to.

But the grief of an orphan.

"Pretty neat how they get a got realistic hologram" the red head beside me said, pulling my eyes away from the paper to look at her.

"It's all in the charged particles", we said together mocking Dr. Clyde which was one of his famous quotes.

"I'm Kate by the way" she stretched out her hand to shake mines.

She had a pretty face painted with brown freckles.

"Jerryuel Gramble, pronounced as your normal guy with a name Jerry but add well at the end"

I said getting a smile out of her and we turned our eyes back to the hologram.

"Block EZ, cubicle Galaxy, make your way to the north eastern elevator where it would automatically take you to the thirtieth floor"

Clusters of people made their way to the elevator, leaving some behind to wait for their block to be called.

I trembled with excitement and nervousness as my huge backpack along with my suitcase weight me down.

I hardly had anything that made these bags heavy but books.

You got to kill your back to make it sometimes

"Block DZ, Marine aquatics make your way to the west eastern elevator and that would automatically take you to the fortieth floor"

I squinted my eyes through my glasses and looked at the crisp piece of paper in my hands .

I looked up for a brief moment and saw Kate making her way to the west eastern elevator. Sensing someone watching her she turned back and looked at me giving a small wave.

I barely lifted my hand to wave back.

"Block DC, Innovative designs make your way to the north western elevator and that would automatically take you to the fiftieth floor"

That was my cue to lift my bags and walk. Compared to Galaxy and Marine aquatics who had close to one hundred persons each, Innovative designs had only ten persons on the elevator.

Silence was the one doing all the talking.

We all stood there not saying a word. One tapped his foot impatiently, another wrapped her hair around her finger.

Someone coughed what seemed like the twentieth time.

We got a thing with numbers today.

Until we reached to our floor. The elevator led out into a coffee brown hallway having small lanterns hung at the side of each mahogany door.

We all looked around for our names on our doors which opened automatically as soon as we looked in the peep hole.

I was the last to find my door. I tiredly dragged my luggage behind me, closed the door and plopped down on my bed.

The small television which was standing quietly on top of a short bookshelf came on and I jumped up immediately.

A melanin enriched skin man with wispy white hair appeared. His trimmed cloud of a mustache lifted slightly as he smiled.

"Welcome to the Innovative designs department of Westernshire labs. My name is Dr. Clarence Clyde and you would be working alongside me to create machines that would help us in moving forward in defining the limits that the human brain can reach. Tomorrow at 8:00am"

The picture of that time was plastered across the screen to emphasize the date and time.

"You would be required to be at the Innovative designs lab to start our first session. Lab coats with your name embroidered on them have been provided for you  in your closets. Even though we are moving forward in technology we got to preserve something of the past"

He smirked and I sat up attentively listening to every word that came out of this man's mouth.

I had gotten up from my seat and went to the closet and pulled the doors opened. Four lab coats watched back at me proudly; I placed my hand and felt them between my fingertips.

"Now that you're acquainted with them"

I couldn't help but look around to see if it had any cameras.

I hated being watched because it took me back when I was in the orphanage when Ms. Dawson used to look at us while we slept.

Only to crawl on top of one of us when the time came.

I shook my head and focused on the television in front of me.

"Once again welcome and I hope that you all would be productive scientists pushing boundaries never dared to cross"

The television shut off immediately after his last word.

I decided to put away my things that were all tossed in my bag and suitcase the night before.

Four pairs of jeans and two jerseys I had gotten from a donor.

Placing them on the hangers provided, I went to pack the shelf with my collection of books.

I arranged it alphabetical order.

Call it what you want. That's the way a bookshelf should be and look. That's not being OCD

So save the comments

After I was done, I showered and made my way to bed.

Tomorrow is another day I am looking forward to.
