YOUR POV:
My life was normal, keyword 'was'. I lived in a small town in Mississippi, went to high school, got mostly B's, and was just a normal teenage girl. After I graduated, I wanted to take a year before I started college to do things like get a job, figure out my major, and whatever else. I never expected to move countries, get engaged- twice -, and fall in love. Yeah, a normal teenage girl.
"Y/N get dressed your going to be late for work!" my mom yelled at me from downstairs. I worked the morning shift at Chick-fil-a and had to wake up early every morning, and I hated it. I was an extreme night owl who stayed up 'til 3 am every morning, despite having to wake up at 7 am.
"But Mooooom-" I started to complain when she interrupted me.
"You only have a few more days until your 20th birthday and then you can sleep as late as you want," she continued to yell from downstairs.
I had made a deal with my mom that once I turned 20 I could move out, go to college, and quit my job so that I could focus on school. I was so excited.
~~~~~~~ TIME SKIP TO THE NEXT DAY ~~~~~~~
After work, I texted my friends to see if everyone was still coming to my party. My phone suddenly buzzed and played my favorite song, Fools by Troye Sivan, meaning that I was getting a call from Skylar. I let it ring for a minute so I could hear the song then I answered.
"Yello," I answered.
"Hey so I was wondering what you want for your birthday," Skylar asked.
"Just get me some food or gift cards, Sky" I didn't like being asked this because I never really wanted anything, except food. I always wanted food.
"Aight, see you tonight!" Skylar exclaimed then ended the call.
~~~~~~~ TIME SKIP TO THAT NIGHT ~~~~~~~
"Only 20 more minutes until everyone should start getting here. Why am I so nervous?" I asked myself. "This just seems too- what's the word?- perfect." That was the word I was looking for. Everything was perfect.
I walked in front of my full-length mirror to see how I looked. I looked great! My dark blue dress was beautiful and it shone in the light. My hair was nothing short of amazing. Everything seemed right, but something also seemed off.
"Everything will be fine," I tried to reassure myself, but it didn't work.
"Knock knock," my mom said as she opened my door. "Hey sweetie-" I cut her off.
"What do you want?" I questioned. She never calls me 'sweetie' unless she wanted something. It was Dad's nickname for me and every time I heard it all I could think about was him, his death. I quickly pushed the thought out of my mind.
"I don't quiet know how to say it but," she paused. She stared at me for a minute and I could tell she was deciding what to do next. "Well... I'll just tell you later, after the party. See you later darling." She left me alone in my room to wonder what she needed to tell me.
"Hmm..." I was lost in thought when the first person arrived, Skylar. "Well, let's go have some fun." I smiled and went to let Sky inside.
