||The Start||

   "Abigail! Abigail!"

I moaned softly, opening my eyes letting them adjust to the sun light that shines through my windows. I looked at my clock that sat on the side of my night stand, I sighed and got up stretching. Walking into the bathroom I looked myself in the eyes, I washed my face and brushed my teeth,

"MOM! HAVE YOU SEEN MY SWEATER!" I asked as I entered my closet pulling on some light bleached jeans and a white crop top.

"I THINK YOU LEFT IT IN THE LIVING ROOM!"

I pulled my socks on, and some combat boots. I walked downstairs and grabbed my sweater. I also grabbed my bookbag and an apple, I said bye to my mom and walked out the door. I ate my apple as I walked to my school.

Reaching my school, I pulled the door open and the laughter of other students lit up my ears. I smiled at some people as I walked pass and said hey.

"Abby!" My friend Jessica called

"Heyy Jessi! How's your mom?" I asked

Jessica mom has had a really bad fever for the passed week, she doesn't seem to be getting better. I scared for Jess, considering her mom is really all she has.

"Ahh. She's still the same, Abi I don't want to lose my mom.. but the doctor said they don't know what could ease her fever. She either it'll just pass or she'll die" She said in a very sad tone

I pulled her into a hug, "Aww jessi, she'll get better! Just pray and think positively and she'll be home in no time"

She smiled, we walked to class changing the topic. As we entered there were papers on our desk, and we already knew it was a pop quiz.

"Students, as you enter please flip over the papers and begin the quiz"

"Where's ms.Adams" A student asks

"She called out sick today so I'll be your teacher" He smiled

We took our seats and flipped over the paper, We looked it over and I smiled cause of how easy this was. I'm not the smartest but I not dumb at all, after 20mins I was finished with my 15 questions quiz. I turned it in and sat back down.

Jess was struggle on question 13 so I just helped her with the rest, I pulled out my phone and scrolled on IG and SC. I took a few pictures and uploaded them, Jessi came back.

"That quiz was horrible" She sighed

"Ehh. It was okay"

"Abi, John and I are gonna do it tonight." I looked at her

"Like..sex?"I whispered

"Yes! I feel ready, but I don't know.. what if he stops talking to me after?" She asked

"Then I'll whoop his ass! But I don't think you should, haven't you guys only been together for 3 or 4 weeks?" I asked

She bit her lip.. "I mean yeah, But! I feel like he truly wants to be with me"

"Jessica, you're only 16 how could you be sure?" I asked

"Gosh. Didn't think you'd judge me so horribly" She rolled her eyes

"I'm not judging you, I'm just being the best friend that I can for you" I said

"Ok." She said

I slightly rolled my eyes, this is why I don't speak up about certain things because people always catches attitude! I was just being a caring friend, like am I so wrong for th-

"ATTENTION! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! TEACHERS PLEASE-"

"AHHHH!"

"SAMANTHA! TEACHERS LOCK ALL DOORS! PLEASE SAVE THE CHILDREN! MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AL- NOOO- AHHHHHHHH HELP ME!"

My eyes widen and I looked at Jessi, who had fear written all over her face.

"Students! Please back into the back of the room and stay close!" The teacher shouted and ran locking the door.

Students rushed to the back, I got in the back also with Jessi sitting on my lap. I hugged her closely as we both shook, scared.

"What's going on?!" Somebody shouted

The teacher looked scared as well as he shrugged his shoulders.. next thing we know a big bang and some moans and growls happened outside our door.

"Shit" the teacher cursed.

He went and looked out the window of the door, he quickly opened the door..

"Dr. Maxwell whats-"

The teacher was attacked by the principal, the principal growled and bit into the teacher neck. We all screamed and made a run towards the door, me and Jessi got out first and looked around seeing blood on the walls and some on the floor students limping around and some crying on the floor with blood dripping down their legs or arms.

I gag at the site but ran towards the front of the school, Jessi wasn't in site as I reached the door.

"JESSICA! JESSICA?!" I called out for over everyones shouting and screams

I didn't see her, but I saw students walking towards me with a limp and missing flesh. I turned and ran out the school, I ran and ran until I made it home. I ran into the house, my mom eyes were wide as I rushed into the house.

"Abigail, you're home ear-"

"Mom! We have to go!"

I rushed upstairs to my room, I grabbed a bag and put clothes into it.

"Abigail whats going on?" My mom came into the room

"There were people at school eating other people, mom it was horrible!" I said

She looked at me before laughing.

"What?! Why are you laughing!"

"You're silly, teenagers and their jokes nowadays" She shook her head before walking down the stairs "If you left school early cause you wanted to come home, that's all you had to say"

I followed with my bag in hand, "Mom I'm serious!"

There was a breaking news on TV.

"People of the city, there was a virus out break causing death of who ever caught it but it also seems to bring them back and they'll attack anyone they can get their hands on. So please evacuate the city and get far as you can. " The man said quickly

My mom stood with a open mouth.

"Aww baby I'm so sorry! Let me go pack a bag"

She ran up stairs, she packed quickly and came down. 

"I'll contact your father when we get in the car" She said

I opened the door, my eyes widened as I saw what was taken place. People were crying, throwing up, limping and eating other people. Me and my mom ran to the car, We threw our bags in the back and I hopped in the driver side. I put my seat belt on and started the car, I turned to my mom and saw her about to enter the car but she was pulled back by her hair.

"MOM!" I screamed I took my seat belt off

"ABIGAIL GO! DRIVE!" She said

The thing bit into her shoulder as I cried,

"I LOVE YOU!" She cried and screamed as he bit into her neck aswell

I backed up and drove down the rode.
