The Bonfire

The hospital

 Who knew that tonight would be the night that my twin dies.Levi and I are seniors in high school this week is homecoming week, so we haven't seen much of each other. It all started today after school.

 "Beep beep beep beep," my alarm sounds. I reach over and shut it off then I remember that tonight is the bonfire. I get out of bed and walk into Levi's room.

"Wake up sleepy-head," I tell him.

" I'm getting up don't rush me," he responds.

" Oh don't forget that tonight is the bonfire you are coming after mentoring. Okay?"

" Ya ya I'll be there."

"You better be there I am counting on you to be there."

"Okay okay, now get out of my room Layla I need to get dressed," he says shooing me out.

I go back into my room and look for my favorite shirt to wear, but guess what it isn't there. So I walk into Adrian's room . I walked in and I was surprised to see Adrian sitting on her bed, on her phone.

" Aren't you supposed to be at your dad's house this week?" I ask her.

"Yes, but he is sick so mom said I could stay here until he gets better," she responds.

" Okay, well did you take my shirt I was going to wear it today, but it's not in my closet and you're the only one who would have taken it?"

" I may have taken it but please can I wear tomorrow it looks really good on me,"

" If you want to wash it tonight you can wear it tomorrow but I'm wearing it today. Next time ask me if you're going to take something of mine, or you could just not take anything of mine in the first place."

" Fine whatever, I didn't even want to wear your stupid shirt anyway."

I walk out mumbling under my breath, " I think you did."

I walk back to my room hoping nothing else will happen and that I will be able to get ready for school. First I get dressed, then I do my hair, and finally I do my makeup. After I get ready I go downstairs to eat. I ask mom where everyone else is and she says that dad left for work, and he wont be home until next week, Adrian left already, and Levi was still getting ready.

"What is taking Levi so long normally when I come down he is already half way through breakfast?" I ask my mom.

"He had to take a shower this morning, normally he showers at night but not today." she replies.

"What's for breakfast?" I ask

" I don't know, what are you making?"mom replies.

I get up and walk over to the fridge, I take out my cold lunch that I made last night. I look in the fridge for something to eat, then I find a really big bowl of fruit. I take it out and start eating it. It is so delicious it is fresh pineapple, watermelon, melon, strawberries, and blueberries.

I grab all of my stuff, say bye to my mom, and tell Levi that I am leaving. I walk to my car, set my stuff in it, and drive away. On the way to school I drive buy the bus barn and look at the freshmen, the sophomore, the junior, and ours, the senior floats'.

When I get to school my two best friends are waiting for me by my locker. "Hey Ella, hey Natalie what is going on" I ask .

"Oh not much we just wanted to see you since we haven't seen you these past few days," Natalie stated.

"Ya what she said," Ella said.

"Okay well let's go to class, I guess," I responded.

A few periods pass, Natalie, Ella, and I all meet up and walk to lunch. Today is quesadilla, so I definitely brought cold lunch. Natalie and Ella never have cold so they order peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, not like those are any better.

"Are you guys going to float building after school?" I asked them.

"I am not," Natalie replies.

"I am not I have to mentor Zoe's little brother," Ella responds.

"Okay well I will see you guys at the bonfire right?" I ask.

"Yup for sure," they say in sync.

"Well I have to go already I have a student council meeting, see ya guys," I say as I walk away.

For this meeting I have to walk all the way over to the other side of the school, so I left lunch a little bit early. On my way there I passed Levi and his girlfriend Stella. When I got there only Zoe and the teacher were there, apparently all of the other kids either forgot or are sick. So the teacher, Mrs. Lesley, rescheduled the meeting. Which I am so thankful for because I can not stand Zoe, seriously she is such a brat I hate her so much. She is so rude to everyone, she only has like one friend, I am not even sure if she likes Zoe. I mean who does, to be honest.   

After school I went straight to the bus barn. Only a few people were there, we only have a few more things to do on the float. By the time we finished what we were doing today it was time for me to go to the bonfire. I was hoping I wasn't going to be late because Levi was waiting for me.

When I got there I was a little confused because Levi wasn't there yet. Stella was standing in the front of the gate waiting for him for hours, then all of the sudden I get a phone call from my mom, so I take it.

"Hey, do u know were Levi is he isn't here?" I asked her.

" I need you to come to the hospital, I will explain once you get here," my mom said.

" MOM WHAT HAPPENED, JUST TELL ME!" I yelled into the phone.

"Just come and I will tell you I can't tell you over the phone it is too hard to tell it even will be in person, just come," she said calmly.

I run to my car jump in and drive to the hospital. I run to the front desk and ask what room Levi Foster is in.

"Okay sweetie I am going to try but you just need to calm down, and he is in room 544 I will show you if you let me," she says trying to calm me down.

"O-o-k I guess," I say stuttering a bit.
