Chapter Twenty-Two (Part Two)

Andrew was watching me.

" What?" I asked

" So? Who called?" he asked.

" Someone from home. "

" Oh. "

" My sister. She was just asking how I was." I said

" Oh. "

" I told her that I couldn't talk to her now, because I'm on a date. "

" Really?"

" Yeah, and she asked me to send her some pictures. "

" But we haven't had any photos yet. "

" Yeah, so-" I dug my phone from my bag and stood up and took a selfie with him.

" I'm gonna send her this. " I said.

After 45 minutes or so, we decided to leave the place.

" Back to Milwaukee?" I asked.

" Yeah, back to Milwaukee. "

" Okay. "

We entered the car.

" So, what's your sister like?" he asked.

" Who? Reela?"

" Yeah. "

" Well, she's a lot crazier than me. But I'm carefree. She's more of a conversationalist than I am. I don't talk that much. "

" Oh. "

" Yeah, so, what's your sister like?"

" Andrea? She bugs about everything. Even if it doesn't concern her. She loves talking. She could keep a conversation going on for days. "

" Oh. I should watch out for her. "

" Yeah, she loves throwbacks. "

" Really?"

" Yeah, especially my throwbacks. "

" Oh, we could talk about that. "

He smiled.

After about 5 minutes of silence, he started talking.

" Okay, this may sound crazy, but I just have to blurt it out. " he said.

" Okay, blurt it. "

He inhaled.

" Okay, where are we now?"

" What? Andrew? You're driving. You don't know where we are?"

" Of course I do. 2 kms. away from campus. "

" So, what are you asking? "

" Where are we? I mean, relationship-wise."

" Oh, like are we in the stage wherein you and me are girlfriend-boyfriend?"

" Yeah. "

" Okay. We're almost there. Just a few steps or so. "

" Okay. "

" Okay? That's all that you could say?"

" Okay, I'm like you. An introvert. "

" Okay. "

" Okay, just one tiny step, then maybe we're there. "

" One teeny-tiny step?" he asked.

" Maybe. "

He smiled.

" That's nice to know. "

" Yeah, whatever. "
