From my childhood if there was one thing I treasured the most, that will be friendship....my friends. Yes true, everyone has friends. But to me, my friends are extra special. They play an important role in each and every phase of my life.

I spent my childhood in a small town. It was my mom's place and there I had a lots of friends. I was a bubbly girl who loved to talk to everyone. My mom was a school teacher. She worked in the same school that I was studying, which came with an advantage that I was well known and the other teachers would pet me. But the disadvantage was that I wasn't able to hide my scores. So my childhood just moved on without any trouble.

Later we moved to a different place because of my dad's job. It was particularly difficult for me. Like everything that I loved and admired just vanished in a second. However it was beyond my control. I had to go with it and I'm not bad with adjusting. So I just made up my mind to go with the change.

I had lots of expectations when I moved to the new place. To my disappointment everything was just the opposite. There were no kids around, no one to talk with except a few grannies. The bitter truth that bothered me the most was the time when I realized that I'm never going to find the one thing I was always desperate about – "FRIENDS".

At long last, my bitter summer break came to an end. I joined a new school in the new city. It was the first day of my third grade. My mom dropped me and turned around to look at me to see if I'm okay. I was standing near the gate. I couldn't step forward as I was nervous. Suddenly someone grabbed my hand and took me inside the class. When I turned back my mom was waving her hands happily wishing me good luck. The teacher took me inside the class and introduced me to others. The first day I just sat there, not speaking to anyone much, not smiling. I was sad and I was not sure why. At the sound of the last bell, I rushed outside. My first day at school was not a memorable one. My mom was waiting outside to pick me up. She was eagerly waiting for me to open up and talk about how my day was. But I wasn't in the mood. I just shrugged and asked her to take me home soon.

The Next day she woke me up. I got up from bed slowly and was feeling bored to go to school as I didn't know anyone there. But I have to go. Unwillingly I got up from bed and started getting ready for my second day.

My mom dropped me near the school gate, came near me and hugged me. "Everything will be fine. You are going to get new friends here like how it was in your old school." My mom whispered in my ears.

She kissed on my forehead and softly pushed me inside the gate. I was surprised. How did she know I was upset? Well, that's what a Mother is. She always understands everything by the way you look and by the way you behave.

Slowly I entered my classroom. There was no big change. I didn't interact with anyone. The last period for that day was Play time (PT). Since I didn't have anyone to be with I went and sat in a corner of the ground. Suddenly I heard someone calling my name.

There was a girl standing next to me smiling. She had a kind face.

She invited me to come and play with her. I blindly nodded and ran towards her. And then we played and played. There was no stopping us. At long last, we heard the bell. It was time for us to stop playing and leave home. We went inside the classroom and packed our bags. First time ever I didn't want to leave home. I was excited that I got a new friend. But I suddenly realized that I didn't even know her name.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

"Did you play with me without knowing my name?", She said.

"Uhhh... Yes!!", I said having the same doubt inside my head.

"My name is Monika", She said with a warm smile.

"Will you be my friend?", I asked her thoughtlessly.

"Yes I will..", She said.

And that's how it began. My first true friendship...

As days passed we completed our Primary school. It was time for us to step into high school, for which we have to move to the main school building.

The thoughts which I had when I arrived here seemed to show up again.

'Will it be the same as here?'

'Will it be as I expect it to be?'

Let's see....
