A Memory

Like a snake that crawls through the sand,

Here I stand.

But I do not crawl through the sand, because just like a mirror, I reflect you.

Instead I crawl deep beneath the surface where your deepest struggles lie.

I can bring you to your knees and make you cry,

Or make you raise your hands to the sky.

For I am all of your troubles, For I am all your struggles.

While I may also give you hope, I can also be the root to your white lies,

To save your own hide.

I speak to you in your dreams, and you always reply.

You look back on me, when you're ready to die.

And I am no stranger to your tears, or your fears,

Because to me they are crystal clear and nearly all I hear.

Family is for always, but I am an eternal flame inside

Breathing my flame into you thawing the coldness that's inside,

And taking it away, so you can see your flaw.

But in your time of need, I will always be right here inside of you

Ready to catch you when you fall.

You may be able to push me back, or capture me to put on a rack,

But I am always here.

I can show you your mistakes, the ones you would hate to recreate.

But in the end, they may kill you, my creator

But I will always live on, and so will you,

You will live on through me.
