Rain
As heavenly tears pelt down
we splash through flood-glass tiles.
Scurrying away to our boxes of safety.
Cursing the moisture coating the earth,
soaking our bodies in the single most important liquid of life.
Whilst our moans echo through streets,
plants and crops greedily suck up the gift,
producing in turn the meal we so easily disregarded as a given.
In the silence of the showers,
in the darkness of the lightning,
we express our drenched sorrows
as in another corner of the world
children die from thirst.
