Above Theme song to Next Generation
Jackson Yeager POV
They were in wagons going to the cadet academy. Jack sat asleep in the corner of the back of the wagon. It wasn't long before the carriage hit a bump and his head smacked against the side waking him suddenly. "Fuck!" He muttered rubbing where he smacked his head, earning a look from the blonde girl beside him.
Jack repositioned himself trying to get comfortable with the katana on his back. He looked around the others were giving him wary looks. Can't blame them I would do the same if it was someone else with the sword. Jack thought to himself maintaining a stoic look, unconsciously fiddling with the locket around his neck.
Jack looked down and opened the locket, in it was a picture of him and his family. His father Eren Yeager, his mother Mikasa, and his sister Anya. Jack looked the most like his father sharing a similar facial shape, emerald diamond eye color and his hair even fell in the same way. However he had his mothers Japanese eyes and Raven hair and a three slash scar across his chin and neck. Three long years and I'm gonna have to wait three more to see you. He thought to himself before brushing the thought away not wanting to bring up those memories.
The carriage ground to a halt and the cadets inside started to clear out, Jack noticed the blonde who was sitting next to him nearly fall out of the carriage, Jack caught the back of her shirt before she fell and pulled her steady. "Thanks for not letting me hit my face." She said giving him a smile. Her eyes were diamond blue her face rather innocent, but there was something strong about the way she carried herself. Why does she look familiar? Jack thought to himself.
"Um you can let go of me now." She said, Jack looked down seeing his hand still holding her shirt, he release her and she held out her hand. "Allow me to introduce myself I'm Anna Arlert." Multiple fond memories went through Jack's mind. "Jackson Carla Yeager." He said being formal giving her a smile. "Wait I think I know that name, but I can't put my finger on it." She said thinking hard. "We used to be friends when we were little."
Realization dawned on Anna's face, and she pounced on Jack giving him a bone crushing hug. "By the walls everyone thought you were dead. What happened to you where'd you get that sword and where did you get these scars?" She asked tracing Jack's claw scar, he gently grabbed her hand and moved it from his face. "I'm sorry but I can't tell you." He said plainly, the stoic mask slipping over his face.
Someone placed there hand on Jack's shoulder and he jumped, grabbed the wrist of the hand and threw the person in front of him knocking his leg out. Jack noticed it was a cadet with two-toned hair a dazed look on his kind looking face. "Christ sorry about that." Jack said holding his hand out to his fellow cadet.
The boy took his hand and let him be pulled up. "Hey don't worry about it, shouldn't have snuck up on ya like that, names Errol, Errol Marco Kirstein." He said holding his hand out, Jack took it and shook. "Jackson Yeager, preferably Jack." Errol nodded. "Hell of a grip." Jack remarked towards him. "Hell of a reaction." Errol remarked back.
"Again sorry about that." Errol shrugged. "Water under the bridge my friend, hey who's your girlfriend?" He asked Jack shot him a confused look then turned seeing Anna walking up to them. "Oh she's not my girlfriend just an old friend." Errol nodded but wiggled his eyebrows and walked up to Anna. "Hello there Errol Kirstein and if you know who my dad is don't worry I'm not gonna hit on you."
Anna nodded giving him an uncomfortable smile. "Nice to meet you I'm Anna Arlert." She informed him. "Anyway we should all head to the field, the commander might have a fit if we come in late." Jack nodded and started walking with Errol and Anna. "So your Asian?" Errol asked Jack inquisitively. "Yeah my mom is Japanese, how could you tell?" Errol motioned towards his eyes. "Your eyes are slightly tilted, you have a fierce demeanor, and there is an aura of honor and nobility that hangs around you."
Perceptive. Was all Jack could really think about that, he nodded. "Impressive." Jack said nodding. "And the story behind the katana would be?" He inquired, Anna looked over as well interested. "That's private." Was all Jack said, Errol nodded. "We all have our secrets my friend." They reached the fields and fell in line with the other, Jack put his right hand over his heart and his left behind his back.
The commander came out a tall, tan, fierce looking bald man. "ALRIGHT YOU MAGGOTS I AM COMMANDER KEITH SHADIS!" He bellowed towards them. "YOU ARE NOW APART OF THE 189TH CADET CORPS, TWO THIRDS OF YOU WILL NOT LAST A DAY AND THE OTHER THIRD MAY LIVE BUT YOU WILL MOSTLY LIKELY DIE ANYWAY SO ANY OF YOU WHO WANT TO LEAVE NOW DO SO NOW!"
He's going to drive everyone off if he continues like this. However very few people left the five hundred person group. There were still about four hundred and fifty people left. Shadis started going through the ranks stopping every so often to head butt one of the cadets and yell at them, he stopped at Jack studying him then his eyes fell on the katana. "YOU WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" He bellowed in Jack's face. "My personal katana sir." Jack replied in a monotone.
"AND WHY DO YOU HAVE IT NOW!?" Shadis roared. "A warrior is honor-bound to carry his blade at all times, to not have it would be a dishonor to me, my family and the sword itself, therefore it shall always remain close to my person." That response did not seem to please the commander as he head butted Jack, HARD. However his head did not hit Jack's because Jack had caught the commander's head, showing abnormal strength for a twelve year old.
Jack's brow was connected in a deep scowl. "I apologize if my REASONABLE response upset you commander." Shadis growled and backed off. "What is your name cadet?" He asked in a dangerous voice. "Jackson Yeager, sir." Jack said not bothering to return his hands to a salute. "Well then Cadet Yeager, you are to run laps until dinner." The commander ordered, Jack growled. "THIS IS OUTRIGHT BULLSHIT!" Jack roared his voice deafening. "Fine laps until midnight, unless you want to leave."
Jack glared at Shadis, who returned his glare. "Fine." He said before running off for his laps.
Commander Shadis POV
Shadis watched as Jack ran off to his laps when Errol spoke up. "Forgive me sir, but your essentially punishing him for giving a rather valid reason to keep his personal item and when he reactively defended himself when you tried to head butt him. It all seems unnecessary." Shadis glared at Errol. "Interesting point cadet, tell me what's your name?"
"Errol kirstein sir." Shadis nodded. "Well Kirstein, you can share his punishment GO!" Errol looked shocked, and two blondes glared at Shadis one with green eyes, the other with baby blue ones. "Excuse me sir, but your giving orders out of your ass." The blue eyed one said angrily. "NAME CADET?!?!" Shadis bellowed. "Anna Arlert." She said flipping him off while saluting. "LAPS NOW!"
The two ran off but that wasn't the end of it, seven more cadets by the names of Buck Ruger, Kenneth Levine, Sarah Springer, Pave Lowe, Clara Leopold, Crystal Monroe, and Ramond Santiago all ended up arguing, defending the others, Sarah was found out to stealing food, and talking back all earned laps. It's like the 104th all over again, hell some of them are the spawn of those people. Shadis thought angrily.
