Min Yoongi met Kim Taehyung in Daegu. They were neighbors and their mothers became close friends when the Kim family moved in next door. Yoongi found Taehyung quite annoying, but after constantly babysitting the younger and spending more time with him, he soon grew fond of him.

"Hyung, I want to look at stars with you tonight!" a six year old Taehyung said one Sunday afternoon. They were sat on Taehyung's bed, the older of the two lying on his back with no pillow under his head and flipping lazily through the pages of a random manga he found on Taehyung's desk. Taehyung was kneeling on the space next to Yoongi. "Dad found our old telescope. We can camp and watch the stars after dinner."

Eight year old Yoongi scoffed. He turned slightly to get a better look at Taehyung. He had big eyes, big ears, and a big head. Yoongi thought he was ugly. "You want to see the stars? That's so lame. Just go visit the planetarium with your family."

Taehyung's lips quivered. He looked down and played with his hands. "Mom has not been feeling well these days. Dad is too busy, and all my friends aren't allowed to sleep over," he mumbled.

Yoongi averted his eyes from the manga to Taehyung and saw that the younger looked like he was about to cry. Taehyung is uglier when he cries.

He sighed and turned his attention back to the manga. "I'll ask Mom if I can stay the night, then." From his peripheral vision, he saw Taehyung tilt his head up slightly. He can almost feel the boxy smile that spreads out on his face.

When Yoongi was twelve and Taehyung ten, the Kim family experienced hardships, and the former was there to witness it. Every ten at night, when it was past Taehyung's bedtime, he would open his window that faced the one in Yoongi's room a good three and a half feet away and throw toys at it to wake the older up.

Yoongi found it irritating at first as he hated getting his sleep interrupted, especially considering he always had a hard time sleeping, but over time, he grew into the habit of staying up late to wait for Taehyung to throw toys at his window so they can talk in loud whispers.

One night, it was a half hour past ten, and Taehyung still hadn't thrown toys at his window. Yoongi figured that this time, he would throw his Hulk plushy since the younger had called the Marvel character ugly a day ago, but there was nothing hitting his window that night.

That time, it was Yoongi who threw something at Taehyung's window. Instead of a toy, he threw a broken mechanical pencil. His aim was terrible, but at least it was able to hit the lower part of the glass.

There was no Taehyung who stuck his big head out his window. Yoongi tried again with an English dictionary. No response.
