I was jumped. Yup. Jumped.
I was walking home from school just minding my own business when Alec "shithead" Linthsler decided it would be fun to steal my backpack. Him and his asshole friends pulled up beside me and threatened to kidnap me if I didn't give them my bag. Well, it was tempting to look around and say "Me? You looking for me?" but I thought that would get me into some serious trouble. I've known all of these kids since I was five, so it was also tempting to hop in the car and say "where are we going?" These boys weren't the least bit as scary and bad as they were trying to be. Seriously though, could you imagine me saying, "Alec you know your parents are eventually going to find out that you got your girlfriend pregnant." Yes, the quarterback knocked up the head cheerleader. This is high school after all.
But I gave them my backpack, because all I really had in there was a few tampons, paintbrushes, and five bucks. Wow, what a steal. I honestly needed a new backpack anyway.
I watched his silver chevy drive away with all of my useless junk. Does Alec really need any more stuff/money? No, but he's going to steal it anyway just so he can prove that he can. The only class he would get an A+ in would be How to Be a Douchebag 101.
Before Alec took my things, I had been thinking about Brooklyn O'Brian. She was the head cheerleader aka Alec's girlfriend. She was knocked up and knowing Alec, she wasn't going to get any help from him.
The only reason I know this is because I'm the quiet girl. I'm the girl you don't realize is in the room until I move. People in my school would have a normal conversation or a fight without even knowing I was there, and if they do realize I was listening, they trust me because, again, I'm quiet.
I had overheard - more like been in the room before them - when Brooklyn was fighting with Alec about their whole situation. He had practically called her a slut saying he didn't know if the baby was actually his. She got frustrated and stormed out, and I was left with the biggest gossip story in the school.
Don't worry. I'm not a bitch, and I'm not the type of person to start rumors. I mean, I like hearing gossip, but I don't like being the storyteller.
Anyways, I arrived home only to find that the mailman was standing on my doorstep. His name was Steve and he was my only friend outside of school. I'm kind of a loser.
"Hey, Steve," I said with a rather loud sigh because I wanted him to ask me what was wrong.
"What's wrong, girlie?"
Ah, he knew me so well.
"Well, I got jumped. Oh, and this girl at school is prego."
I told Steve all the gossip mostly because I wanted to see his reaction to "the kids these days" but it was also nice to tell someone these things without having any collateral damage.
"Prego? Like the sauce? Wait, you got jumped?" He said with big eyes.
"Not prego, pregnant. A girl got pregnant, and these guys at my school stole my backpack," I explained.
"Are you hurt?" he asked still wide-eyed.
"Nah, I'm good. I actually wanted a new backpack anyway, so no harm done."
"Man, the kids these days are insane! Pregnant and stealing on the same day? Sounds like y'all need Jesus," he said shaking his head.
"I think you're right," I said as I started unlocking my front door.
Steve started to leave when he turned back around and said, "Silly me! I forgot to give you your mail!"
This was silly considering he was normally very well-minded.
"Did I get anything exciting today?" I inquired.
"Actually yes. You got a letter from a boy," he said making googly eyes at me.
"Really?" I said in a sarcastic tone.
"Well there's got to be some boy looking for you because the letter is sealed with a heart," he said handing me the letter along with the rest of the mail.
"Thanks, Steve," was all I could manage to reply with.
"You're welcome, and keep me updated on that boy of yours," he said winking at me.
I rolled my eyes and unlocked my door.
While I looked at the letter all I could think was: me? There was a guy looking for me?
These thoughts were rummaging through my head as I walked through the door already tearing open the envelope.
