Sticks and Stones/Monsters

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me

A phrase repeated many times but most people fail to see

The person that wrote that phrase was actually correct

Yet it's one phrase that many choose to reject

I am not hurt by words in fact they are my friend

I'm hurt by the person that chose me to offend

The words that they say are the product of my misery

So yes it's true that words will never hurt me

As a young child I loved many things

I had a passion for drawing and I loved to sing

But I also had fears that plagued my mind

And there were not ones normal people would find

I was scared of monsters that slept under the bed

But now I know that they sleep in your head
