The One

Chapter 2

I guess that PE lesson wasn't too bad, nothing drastic happened, Danny didn't talk to me at all, maybe he doesn't care about me and that makes me sad, even though it shouldn't. I guess the fact that we had been best friends since birth still meant something to me, we went through everything in our childhood together, me, Danny and my twin sister, Louise. That was until high school, I went off and found new friends leaving Danny and Louise behind. They stuck together though, they even dated at one point, then when they broke up they also started to drift apart. The only friends that I kept from primary school are Zoe, Becky and Jenny, but they're also Danny's friends too.

Danny must have noticed me staring into space because he waved his hand in front of my face making me jump. "Sorry, I just wanted to say that you played well and...yeah, oh and the bell just went, so you probably want to get changed." He giggled. I haven't seen Danny smile in years and it's contagious so I can't help but smile too. "Are you going to get changed then?" I feel my cheeks heat up, "err yeah," this time I'm the one who's stuttering, great. Danny goes to leave but Mr Johnson makes him wait for me, even better (note sarcasm). I turn around to get changed yet I still feel eyes on me, I look out of the corner of my eye to see Danny staring at the back of my head. I smile to myself, what is going on with me, I really need to talk to Zoe.

Me and Danny walk to English in silence, until it becomes to much and I say something that I immediately regret, "just because you've suddenly started to talk to me again doesn't mean that we're suddenly friends again." I turned to look at him and saw the hurt in his eyes, I wanted to tell him that I didn't mean it but I couldn't and I guess I was just thrown by the fact that I got to speak to confident Danny again rather than shy, awkward Danny. He started to walk quicker to English and I didn't stop him, however I got my phone out and texted Zoe

Dodge<3-Zoe<3: rllly need to talk to u, meet me by the tree @ lunch xx

I got an almost immediate reply from her, just like I knew I would, I could always trust Zoe to be there for me when I needed her.

Zoe<3-Dodge<3: okay, c ya then, r u ok??? xx

I felt better just because of a text. I ran to English hoping that Miss Shield would let me off seeing as I'm one of her star pupils. "Ahh, Taylor you finally decide to show up.." I go to apologize but she carries on talking, "I was beginning to think that Mr Jones was going to have to be partnerless." Mr Jones, isn't that Danny. "Go and take a seat next to Daniel at the back." Yes, it's Danny. "I think Mr Jones would probably prefer to be partnerless!" I exclaim under my breath. "What was that Mr Smith?" I look back up at Miss Shield and ask, "I was just wondering why there was the change in seating plan?" She claps her hands and an excited look takes over her face, oh no this can't be good. "You will be sat in these seats for the rest of the year and you will be working with the person sat next to you on the Romeo and Juliet project that I was telling you about." I look over to Danny and hear him sigh, at least I'll get to spend more time with him, I think to myself.
