"So... What now?" Kat asked. "We know Ally's possessed... How do we find out who it is? And how to stop them?"

"You can't. It's not easy. But there is something Alyssa may do to stop it from haunting her if it gets too annoying." The priest gave a smile. "Utter the name of the lord, and you shall have – although temporary – a moment of serenity."

"So... Shall we go? It's night... My parents would be home now. I'll just sleep in their room. The rain's thinned down too."

"Mom?" I stepped into my house slowly

"Mom?" I stepped into my house slowly. "Mom?"

I walked over to their rooms. Empty. Why aren't they home yet?

"What are you doing?" The voice behind me startles me and I turn around sharply

"What are you doing?" The voice behind me startles me and I turn around sharply. "What?" My brother gave a look of confusion.

"Stop being annoying, Al." I shoved him away and walked out of the room. "Where's mom and dad?"

"Out on some trip, I think."

"Why?" I frowned.

"Don't know. It was kind of urgent or something. Some family member or whatever." Al shrugged.

"That's strange." My parents never attended family stuff. They kept away from it as much as they could. "How long are they away?"

"Till tomorrow night."

"Okay... You know, I'm going to stay over at Kat's." I began to walk up the stairs.

"You're not even going to tell mom or dad?" Al asks

"You're not even going to tell mom or dad?" Al asks. I shake my head.

"Stop caring. You couldn't care earlier today, don't pretend you do now." I glare at him before making my way up and grabbing my duffel bag which I kept under my bed. I opened my closet slowly and turned my lights on.

Then, I froze

Then, I froze.

The hairs on the back of my neck rose steadily as I watched the goose bumps appear on my skin.   A sort of unusual fear washed over me. Then, I noticed it. Just like earlier today from in my closet, except, this time, it was behind me. Faint and I could tell it wasn't laughing. No. These were words. I listened harder and realised it was getting louder. Whatever was behind me was getting closer. Finally, I could make out the words.

Finally, I could make out the words

"You should have never left." It was faint. Over and over again. Getting louder. "You should have never left."

I try to turn around but I am frozen in fear. I could feel my heartbeat race and I was running out of breath despite being in the same spot.

"Please." My voice is barely above a whisper but whatever this thing is, suddenly stopped.

Then, I felt it.

The hot breath on the back of my neck. The faint laugh I heard earlier in the day explodes from right behind me and I break into sweat, still frozen in place. My phone vibrates and my hand shoots to it. I can move again so I turn around, ready to punch whatever is behind me.

My eyes widen in fear. There is nothing there. I quickly stuff whatever clothes I can into my duffle bag and hurry downstairs to rush out of the house. I walk out and quickly jog towards Kat's place. The rain has thinned down enough to be a soft drizzle now but I expected it to pick up soon since the clouds still looked heavy. My phone vibrates in my pocket again. As I reach Kat's door and ring the doorbell, I pull my phone out.

What

What. The. HELL?

We're almost in the top 50. We're at #58 now. Honestly, I am satisfied as it is, but it's just so thrilling to see it have a rank you know. I've never had one.

Thank you so much for reading guys. Hope you liked the horror element that's about to come back!
